I asked him to mod my cell phone, but he had never done it before, so hence why I ended up on this site to try and do it myself... lol. But it kept me busy at work for a few days, so it worked out quite well. It's not actually *modding* since PalmOS devices (thanksfully) don't come locked to licensed software like the PSP and XBox do You just put stuff there and it works. You *really* should make an effort to learn about this computer/games/memory cards business so you can do more stuff on your own and there's so much stuff to do that oehter people just can't know you'd like. My best advice is just try. Test. And search! Google is there for a reason.

A:/ Yes, you can help. A linux page would be nice, being that I'm too lazy to get my sd card to work with DSLinux . Just make sure it has a LOT of detailed descriptions and pictures! This should hopefully be the end of ljp problems when it is released!

What about those PSI installers? Then they could just run them and get LJP all configured?

What you need is a little program that will add roms to the correct paths on the sd card. That will help with the post-install problems.

How do you know if it is in drive F or whatever? How do you change it? I though it was just card 1 and card 2? These are questions that will show up on the forums if that is put on the ljp site.

It is a bat file for windows. Check My Computer, i think. You can change it by putting in/taking drives out until it works.
However, i don't think you can tell what drive an sd card is in, but i really dont know. But at least it zips up all ur roms :-)

It's a good start though.

I can check what drive the sd card is in by seeing if there is a /palm/ folder on it, but when i check drives that don't exist, i get errors. Is there a way in a bat file to see the list of drives?

Someone should probably just do a shiny windowed VB app to send games to the card. Anyone else here knows enough VB to do that besides me? BTW I don't really think BATs are more user-friendly than drag-and-drop files. As for installing LJP itself, yes those PSI things are great, ask Metaview to do them in his releases The code he got probably has the XMLs already setup for a PSI release. I know LJX will most likely use it too.

It's the best i can do, besides making something for the Palm itself

Hmm...I know some VB, but I'm a bit rusty. My job's recently called on that knowledge though, so I'll be brushing up, and hopefully will be able to help out in that department here.

Anyone used Alex Pruss' Palm installer? Seems to me it should be able to handle something like this.

Never heard of it. Seems like I'm off to some Googling ;D
Sounds good if it's more flexible than PSI in the ways I'd want it to.

Oooooh!!! "LJP for Dummies" = "LJP for DitsyDaizy"!!! Can't wait!!!
I was able to copy the games from my PSP to my desktop. But when I tried to copy the games from my desktop to my SD card... nothing happened. I mean, it says they copied, but I go to the little LJP on my phone, and there still isn't any games on it.

Where did you copy them to? They have to go in the correct folders on your SD card, not just anywhere.
/PALM/Programs/LJP/SNES/ROMs/ is the path for SNES ROMs for example. There's a different folder for each platform you want to emulate.
Also, remember to eject your SD card in software on your PC before removing it from the reader, otherwise some of the data might not actually have been written yet.

Another option is using "Teracopy" a program that makes copying/moving more accurate and faster. It works well with sd cards.

Hmmm... I will try it again tonight. I don't know where I saved them to, I think it was just the SD card... no particular folder in the SD card.

They need to be that folder for it to work.

I recommend picking up a copy of FileZ, UniCMD (both free) or Resco Explorer (shareware) -- all of these add a windows explorer-like system for your Palm that lets you easily browse RAM and your external cards. Resco Explorer also lets you do WiFi/Phone/Bluetooth file transfers and lots of other nifty things.

I'm happy that you learned, above else, to search and ask about stuff on your own rather than asking guys to do it for you That's the most important and will make so much difference when you want to learn about something else We hope you're getting more tech-savvy as time comes ;D

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaack!!!! And I've got a question.... surprise surprise! I am wondering if there is a way to save my game before I exit??? Like when I'm playing Mario or Zelda... any way to save it so I don't have to start all over every single time? I've tried saving it like 3 different ways and it never saves... any suggestions???

Method 1: Use the in-game save function. To resume, use the in-game load function. Method 2: Use the Panic button (saves state to the quicksave slot and exits). To resume, instead of pressing the Launch button, press the Load button and select Quickslot. Method 3: Use the Beltbar quicksave icon (floppy disk). Resume the same way as Method 2. Method 4: Tap on the middle of the screen and select Save. Select your slot. To resume, do the same as Method 2, but select the slot you saved. You can also launch the game, tap the middle of the screen, and click the Load button and then select the slot you saved. Method 5: Same as method 4, but tap Quick Save instead of Save.

Step 1: download the ljp.zip file from Metaview's weblog (not the one on little-john.net) to your PC. Step 2: decompress it. Step 3: insert your SD card in a card reader and copy the files from the zip to /Palm/Programs/LJP/ on the card. Step 4: Copy ljp.prc from that zip to /Palm/Launcher/ on the card. Step 5: Download some NES games from here to your PC. These games are all in the public domain and fully legal to download. Step 6: stick your card in your device, go to the application launcher, select your card, and tap on LJP to run it. Step 7: go back to your application launcher, eject your card, put it back in your card reader, and copy the NES games you downloaded over to /Palm/Programs/LJP/NES/Roms/ Step 8: put your card back in your device, re-launch LJP, select NES from the drop down list of consoles, and... Step 9: Press the config button. Step 10: Pres the Mul Assign button at the bottom of the screen, and start pressing hard buttons/screen areas to set up your virtual gamepad inputs. Step 11: tap Video on the left hand side, set Smoothing to Slow, Display size to x1.25, and frame skip to Auto. Step 12: Press the Browser button. You're now ready to play a game (configuration's over... whew!) Step 13: tap a game or select it with the 5-way select button to launch the game. Step 14: play the game. Tap in the middle of the screen to bring up a menu of options you can configure while the game is playing. Step 15: Exit the game and start playing around with the other configuration settings. I did has I was supposed to do it. Like on the directions that you wrote. Only when I boot up a game it reads the following: .zem file has wrong version number. Please check your install. Then I will hit OK. Then it reads this: Version got/wanted: 0500/0400. Then after hitting OK again. It go's back to the LJP Launcher screen. Any suggestions? Thanks.
