Here's an interesting tid bit from the Brighthand Forum. It appears that Dmitry Grinberg has agreed to writer an SDHC driver to allow several Palm models to use 8, 16, and 32GB cards. Which is fantastic in its own right.
This discussion has started the usual arguements over whether PalmOS is soon to be completely extinct and some are arguing that Dimitry shouldn't waste his time, etc, etc.
Anyways, Dmitry wrote a fairly lengthy rebuttal to these arguements. This rebuttal contained this little excerpt which I copied/pasted here regarding some projects he has completed and not released because he doesn't have the time to polish them up for public release.
I just wondered if maybe one of the other very-capable palm programmers in other forums might bug Dimitry for the GBA emulator to polish it up for the rest of us.
The quote from Dmitry:
I like my PDA, and as long as that is so I will develop whatever software for it I d**n well please. Usually I do not release my software. I only do if the money i'd make is worth the time it'd take to polish it up for release. The world outside of my house sees maybe 10%, if that, of what software I made for my TX. This is just another project I thought the worl out there would like. I have plenty of unrelease projects that are cool and just arent worth the time to polish up to be release worthy, but hat work fine for me. Of the main ones: I have a gba emulator working at more than 100% speed, my own palm-os-binarily-compatible custom OS on the tx based on my own kernel, a few games, a port of minimo, and a few other things. I dont release them because it is not worth it.
Interesting

I wonder how much of that is just Dmitry blowing smoke. While some of the things he's released have been amazing, he's seen his share of unfulfilled promises as well. For instance I had some communication with him way back when the 700p was just released about Warpspeed compatibility, and was told that it was in testing and would be released in the next few weeks.
Fast forward to March 2008 and we still don't have an updated Warpspeed.

Well, if he had something working, but doesn't think it's worth to polish it, he could just release it for free, open sourced... If the project is interesting enough someone might grab it and polish it for him. He doesn't do it. Where is the truth?

Maybe he's lazy to polish it but doesn't want to give it away because of the potential future possibilities Meanwhile, let's see if someone else gets less lazy to get another GBA emulator working

Screw GBA, I'm much more eager to have working PSX than GBA. Not that I'd complain to see GBA working, that's just where my preference is.

I don't think PSX would ever be playable on the Zodiac, but GBA actually might be. But both would be even better :-) (hint hint)
BTW Tinnus isn't dmitry helping you with a GBA emu?

I'd also want minimo since the guy hosting it replied to my email asking about a port saying it's open source. I feel I must have tabs.
Can someone convince him to release the gba open source? PAHLEASE?

Knowing him, I'm 95% sure he won't do that though. Actually, I'm (and not alone) pretty sure he doesn't even have a complete GBA emulator (as in that runs most commercial GBA games).

I'm sold if it plays the pokemon games and sonic/ mario games. That's all I really want. Edit: Kayge- can you give the link to the thread?

Now now now... I've spent some time looking at the code, and not only it seems like this will work just fine, but something else (good) will also happen likely... we'll see Remember this? It's on the 2nd page, and it's the 2nd thread. This must have been at least six months or so ago. . . Has anybody else here ever played commander keen? Trust me, you're not the only keen fan here. I'm sure I long to play "Secret of the Oracle" on a Treo just as much as you.

I don't think anything with LJ because i think the author said Tinnus should do a seperate port if (when?) he does one.
Now just hoping on that when.
