When you press the center of the screen in ZDoomZ (and ZQuakez too) a command prompt thingy pops up. Can this be used to enter in cheat codes?

For some reason, it doesn't work for me. I'm using 1.4 on a treo 650. I get the command keyboard, but I can't enter anything with it.

don't use the keyboard, use the command window... it's better and works.
