It works fine when launched first time after soft reset, but if I quit it and launch it again, it will reset my TX. It even happens if I just start&close it first time, not launching the game or modifying any settings. I also noticed that if I turn off my TX after quitting ZDoomZ, it will turn on again by itself after several seconds. Maybe these bugs are related.

I fear it is the DBCache, which get's fragmented. I have to check it and read about it, maybe I can flush it at start.

Maybe it is. It somehow screws up the memory: if I start&quit ZDoomZ once and then try to load apps one after another, I'll always get a soft-reset at some point.

hm, without even to launch the game? That's in fact a bit weird.

Yes, it causes problems even without launching game. So it probably does something bad at the very startup.

Hm, still doesn't happen here. Do you use UDMH? If yes, which version and which settings?

i use UDMH 5.0 on my LD and set it to 60000kb. its not a big problem for me im already used to it but if it can be fixed that would be gr8.

I am not using UDMH. I use Dmitry Grinberg's MemUnfragment, but the bug still persists without it.

I have this same exact problem, with all Z* games. I have a LifeDrive with dmitry's UDMH 5.3 (default settings) and MemUnfragment. I also use DBCacheTool to clear memory before entering Z* games, but if I run it after, it'll reset my LD (just like it does if I run a Z* game again).

MemUnfragment: Do you need it on a LD? Does the Blazer does the same thing on a LD as on TX? The DBCacheTool can not clear the DBCache in a good way. I did several tests on my TX with Duke3D. It was able to clear something, but the time it takes was longer than the time for a Softreset, also it wasn't able to unfragment the memory to bring back a piece large enough to run Duke3D again :-( That's why the next update of Duke3D will have a Reset-Btn on the launcher form, I hoped I could use a Clear button (and even examine the DBCacheTool to find the way to call it from outside) but it doesn't help.

Yes, DBCacheTool is of questionable usefulness because it can rarely defragment the cache enough. It does clear most of it, though. I get up to 12,000,000 bytes free after running it, more than after a soft reset. However, the largest chunk never goes beyound about 7,200,000 bytes. This is probably a small db that is locked there by the operating system, and therefore cannot be cleared by DBCacheTool. But I'll be d**ned if I know which one!
About MemUnfragment, the LD is basically a TX with a harddrive instead of flash memory, and therefore most (if not all) TX hacks will work on it. For example, MaxX, the TX-specific Picsel Browser screen maximizer, also works on it. And yes, the LD user can also benefit from MemUnfragment.
But to get back on topic, I've resigned myselft to soft resetting before (and occasionally after) running Z games and LJP. It is far stabler than running DBCacheTool all the time, a practice which eats my SavePreferences too often.

ZDoomZ does make heavy use of the storage mem to fit in current device's limited dynamic RAM without UDMH. This also means it is much more than Hexen or Heretic affected by the DBCache fragmentation.

I too get a problem on my t|x. I lauch the wad (doom1 shareware) and get a bunch of error msgs (pnolet: 54kb data: 7kb, etc) and here is my debug log
debug output to: debug0.txt (open) V_Init: allocate screens. M_LoadDefaults. Z_Init: Init zone memory allocation daemon cannot sys_alloc 8650752 Bytes. free RAM : 2806/2001
It goes bad at the last line of the debug log and displays the last to lines of the log as messages in the upper portion of the screen. I dunno what's wrong with it but I'm running v1.6 (for some reason it's 1.2 in your download section) ona palm t|x.
Additionally, where can I get this UDMH and MemUnFragment and all the stuff you guys were talking about?
