I haven't had the time to test it yet, but still the updates seem amazing for a 0.1 "value" release. At this rate by the time you reach 1.0 (which I really hope you do) you'll be enhancing the games with features such as filters and such and performance wise it will run 100%.
Keep up the good work.
PS: I gave a little help to promote your work and emulator on the forevergeek blog, please correct me if I made any mistakes.
Fair Winds.

(Copied from Bug Report thread) I tried installing 0.2 the same way as 0.1, just copying the 1.5 subfolders into my PSP/GAME directory. But it doesn't load and gives me the message "The game could not be started. (80020130). I noticed this time the folders are named "s9xTYL 1" and "s9xTYL~1%", and I wonder if this is causing it to not load? I'm not sure what to do.
I figured out how to get it going. I removed the spaces and the 1 in the first directory, and the ~1 from the second directory, and now it loads no problem.
I note that the new 0.2 does not fix the cpu clock bug where it isn't set correctly until first entering the menu with the analog stick. Not that it's really a bug, but it seems like a trivial fix.
I've also noticed that Crono Trigger seems to run slower with the same basic settings. Specifically, the battles have become choppier than they were in the 0.1 release. In the mean time, I'm back to playing CT on the 0.1 release.

I just noticed this.... it should not. post you settings, or we won't be able to fix, if a fix is needed.

I'm on 1.0 and i had the same problem. To solve it I erased the .ini settings file from the SNESTYL folder on my PSP and the next time I launched the new TYL it worked OK. Fantastic release! Later,

0.1 Settings: ------------------------ Sound: ON Frequency: 44Khz --- GFX engine: Accurate Mix. Frameskip: Auto Rendering: Zoom1 Smoothing: On Speed Limit: On Video Sync: Off Gamme correction: 0 --- CPU clock: 333Mhz Show FPS: On --- OBJ/BG (All): On No Transparency: Off Fast Sprites: Off
0.2/0.2b Settings: ------------------------ Sound: ON Frequency: 44Khz --- GFX engine: PSP accel. +accu.Soft. Frameskip: Auto Rendering: Zoom 4/3 Render PAL as NTSC: Off Smoothing: On Speed Limit: On Video sync: Off Gamma correction: 0 --- CPU clock: 333Mhz Show FPS: On --- Show Rendering Passes: Off Speed hacks: On Ignore (All): Off Fast Mode7: Off OBJ/BG1 (All): On No Transparency: Off Fast Sprites: Off
In 0.2, I frequently see during battle that I'm getting 60/5-6 fps, which is a frameskip of at least 10. When it hits 5 fps, that's when the game actually slows down (the music does is how I can tell). I've downloaded 0.2b and run it and it has the same slow-down. Not surprisingly, though, 0.2/b runs at near full speed when not in battle.
Especially the battles, between 0.1 and 0.2, the 0.1 release runs them much more smoothly. The FPS display for 0.1 does not display the actual FPS, but it usually hovers between 60-65.
If you need more info, let me know. I can also supply my cfg/ini files.

PSP updates listed in the release notes "PPU optimization (FF6 is eventually playable)"
Does this mean it's unplayable now?

PSP updates listed in the release notes "PPU optimization (FF6 is eventually playable)" Does this mean it's unplayable now? I played it, and 0.1 was pretty bad, even with sound disabled completely. 0.2b is nearly full-speed. Much nicer looking, and smooth. Battles are choppier than the rest of the game, but not to a point that it's unplayable.

one change in v0.2 is about sound emulation. It's now more accurate but requires much more cpu power... regarding chrono, did you try to run in frameskip 1 or 2 and using the "Ignore fixed colour" hack ? same goes for FF6...

WOW A GREAT EMULATOR !!!
The speed is certainly faster.
Choose: No Transparency: ON SOUND: 11 KHZ
and play FINAL FANTASY 3 . its 300% faster the game is playable and maybe full speed even at frameskip 1
with the 0.1 version the game was barely playable at frameskip 3
When you are in a village the speed is like 300-400% faster CANT BELIEVE IT
CONGRATULATION YOYO BRAVO YOYO POUR CE SUPERBE ÉMULATEUR

people that obtain a slower experience in 0.2b are doing something wrong this is sure.
ALL GAME I TRIED ARE FASTER
CHANGE YOUR SETTINGS !!!
choose no transparency: 0N by default its better i think when you need it on because of a graphic glitch just change it for the time needed.
FF3 is 200%-300% faster only with with no transparency ON
i didnt find any bug in this version.
The fps counter now work great !!!
For me it can be the last version and i will happy with it for eternity LOL
great work yoyo group AAAA+++

I feel bad to report this in a way, but it will help I hope. I notice that the emulation speed in some games was reduced, while I admit in others is pretty incredible (Pitfall runs with 0 frame-skip and VBlank disabled at 60 FPS with 22 KHz sound and no fast sprites and at frame-skip set to 1 I can run it at at fluid 60 fps/30 fps effective with VBlank enabled ). In others the performance as gone down, I think that in some of those the speed-hacks are to blame as I have something interesting hopefully to say about this. Let's take Super Mario World for example. These are the settings I ran it with (in v0.1 and v0.2): 0.1 Settings: ------------------------ Sound: ON Frequency: 22 KHz --- GFX engine: PSP Accelerated Frameskip: 1 Rendering: Zoom Fit (4:3 ratio) Smoothing: On Speed Limit: On Video Sync: On Gamme correction: 0 --- CPU clock: 333 MHz Show FPS: On --- OBJ/BG (All): On No Transparency: Off Fast Sprites: On 0.2 Settings: ------------------------ Sound: ON Frequency: 22Khz --- GFX engine: PSP Accelerated Frameskip: 1 Rendering: Zoom 4/3 Render PAL as NTSC: Off Smoothing: On Speed Limit: On Video sync: On Gamma correction: 0 --- CPU clock: 333Mhz Show FPS: On --- Show Rendering Passes: Off Speed hacks: On Ignore (All): Off Fast Mode7: Off OBJ/BG1 (All): On No Transparency: Off Fast Sprites: On Here is the funny story . When it boots, and applies the speed hack, the game menu (where you select the save, the intro with Mario running around in the level) runs very slowly and you can hear this from the sound playback which almost seem to be skipping (if you change some options in the emulator... go back to the game... it often goes back to normal there and when going to the older/abitual settings I listed it still plays ok). I did not notice this behaviour once I turned the Speed Hacks feature off and "restarted the SNES" using the Emulator's menu choice. A benchmark I use to test the emulator's speed is in the first level where Mario is walking/running to the right and on a very nearby "hill" there is a group of several Koopa's walking in line. This should be a good test as we have several sprites on screen (and the Koopa's are on the same scan line... which should stress the SNES's OBJ engine a bit more) which are animated (so we have some kind of A.I. processing on these entities) and backgrounds, etc... I usually have Mario running fast or walking back and forth under the Koopa's. In v0.2 I do notice more slowdown: v0.1 showed me a framerate that went between 60 and 62 fps or 30-32 fps as the new counter (which takes frame-skip into account) would report it while v0.2 instead it dips below 30 fps. So there is slowdown there. It might be explained by what you said about Sound, more accurate yet more CPU intensive: if the game was just THAT close to drop from 30-32 fps the added sound processing work might explain the extra slowdown. Once the sound emulation, or part of it, is moved to the Media Engine then we should be really happy as it will increase the framerate in these scenarios. I noticed some additional slowdown in other games such as Spider-man's Separation Anxiety (Maximum Carnage II), but over-all I think this emulator is growing better by the day.

I did not mean to sound too negative, the PSP fan is very happy you brought v0.1 and v0.2 to the public and you are doing some amazing work under the hood I am sure. My thanks once again to all people involved in this project .

I'm running it now at 22Khz at frameskip 2, no transparency = on, fast sprites = on, and ignore fixed color = on, but I'm still getting only 54/18 fps. I've disabled transparency, but it's need a lot in CT, especially in 600AD for the clouds. It's still playable, but I just wanted to mention that 0.1 seemed to run smoother on the whole.

anyway tried 11 khz sound not much difference is quality but much speed
sound: on frequency: 11 khz gfx: psp accel. +accu.soft frameskip 1 ( with frameskip 2 Final fantasy 3 is 100% REAL SPEED with frame 1 really playable) rendering: full render to pal as ntsc: on smoothing:on speed limit:on video sync:off cpu : 333 show fps ( off when not testing)
hack/debug: show rendering:off speedhacks:on ignore fixed:off ignore windows:off ignore add:off ignore pallette:off fast mode 7:off obj:on bg0:0n bg1:0n bg2:0n bg3:0n no transparency : on fast sprtites : off ( i think on get give you more speed)
always beetween 21 and 23 at ff3 with frameskip and 100% real speed. REALLY FASTER THAN v.01 TRY IT WITH THE OLD VERSION.
if not enough great for you . play your snes games with the real hardware
this emulator is surely at near its best

i got this with ff3
63 to 66 on 21 to 23
its full speed but skip only a few skip (60 = full speed) anyway more than 30 its hard to see the difference
at frameskip 1
54 to 60 54= is not far from 60 full speed + 30 fps on 30 to 33
did you ever tried to go in a village in version 0.1 even at frameskip 5 or 6 the speed was 50%

I guess my problem is an isolated one, not a biggie for most games I can use v0.2 and successors and for others I can use v0.1 if it is faster, but I'd suggest trying Super Mario World with those settings on v0.2.
The PSP is a Japanese model with 1.50 Firmware and brand new Sony 512 MB Memory Stick Pro Duo.

very bad for you, because SUPER MARIO WORLD IS A 100% REAL SPEED AT FRAMESKIP 0 fps 60/60 with my settings i told you before The point is that I am comparing the emulator speed with the SAME settings on two different versions of the emulator... running on the same machine and reading games from the same folder on the same memory card. The v0.2 of the emulator was installed in a brand new and clean directory and not over the old installation. The games are kept in a wholly different folder than either of the two emulators's own folder. If I disable transparencies (which on most SNES games disables part of the charm ) I am cheating... If I compare how the same PC renders in 3DS MAX 6 a scene at a certain speed S and in 3DS MAX 7 it rendered at speed S/2 (hypotetical case) then should one of the AutoDesk/Discreet guys be telling me to turn some lights off and reduce Shadows quality or just say to me "hey we improoved the accuracy of our renderer" ? I am fine if this version has more accurate sound and I think that it is perfect considering where they plan to have the bulk of sound processing off-loaded to (the Media Engine R4000i+FPU combo). I was just pointing out what I saw.
