This may be a noob question so sorry in advance.
I switched to using SNES TYL yesterday from SNES9x, and I must say the performance boost is awesome. I'm only using the emu right now to play FF2, and I'm noticing some problems that I didn't have with SNES9x.
First off, I haven't changed any of the settings. I'm running at 222MHz which means I need to skip some frames, but I'm not opposed to upping the clock speed if necessary.
When I get into a fight in the game, I notice that some of the animations with the monsters don't get refreshed properly, most noticably when they die, or when I cast a spell on them. The death animation should cause the monster to turn purple, then the monster should disappear one horizontal line at a time. This looked as I expected using SNES9x, except it was in slowmo. With TYL, only parts of the monster turn purple, and only some of the horizontal lines disappear leaving pieces of the monster on the screen. I've run into one or two occasions where I cast a spell, and the game freezes (music still continues to play).
Has anyone noticed behavior like this? Are these known bugs? If it's just a matter of tweaking settings, that'd be great.
Thanks.

Try running in accurate software mode.

very strange behaviour.... try disactivating speed hacks in debug menu and reload your rom after . you should be able to run it in "psp accel.+accu. software" mode

Turning off speed hacks seemed to do the trick. Thanks. The game is performing well.

Actually, is there a way to have speed hacks turned off by default? As it is right now, I have to load the game, turn off speedhacks, then reload the game in order to play it with this setting off.

Save the settings you use as the default. I think Yoyofr said that he implmented per-game settings, but I haven't looked at that. You won't get the speed hacks for other games, but if you're just playing the one for now, it shouldn't really matter, anyway.

I noticed that this still wasn't working properly in 0.3, and just today, I got around to installing 0.4.2, and it still isn't working. If you turn off speedhacks for a game, then save the settings as default, it will always have speedhacks on by default.
The speedhacks cause the same graphical glitches, and they seem to hurt performance significantly too. Currently, the only way I can play FF2 is to load the ROM, set speedhacks off, then reload the ROM. If this doesn't get fixed, is there a settings file or something I can tweak so that speedhacks never get loaded for this game?
