Currently there is no build of 0.4 that doesnt use the ME and therefore, there is no version that can be tested on 2.x firmware.

i dont think running an emu at 333mhz or/and the media engine will decrease the battery power THAT much, what really kills the battery is spinning and reading the umd....

I dunno about you, but Ive never known TYL to run UMDs in my experience. TYL just drains batt. by running the processor and ME. Thats about it.

The battery drain using the beta doesnt really kill my battery all that fast. I'll be doing a battery test later on today and I'll post those results.

Theoretically I would say that it should be -20% between the 0.2c and the prototype version with full ME in the same condition (screen light and sound volume). Screen + Lighting consume around 30% of battery life. 70 % remain for various stuff : 2 equiv cpu + 1 gpu + memory stick access and drain with audio speaker + LED... So lets say that ME is 25% to 30% out of the remaining 70%... you probably got your number :-) Let's see if reality matches it

Keep up the good work on the emulator guys! For me it's not about network compatibility as much as just enjoying what I did as a kid on the move! Work in a call centre...weekends are slow. Would be nice to have the PSP here to help me along!

Hey guys new to these forums but you will find me on many other forums. I have to say just SNES alone was one of the greatest things to see. But I did miss things like being able to play secret of MANA with my friends. So network will be a great thing for me. Keep up the great work yoyo.

How many players will be supported with the ad hoc multiplayer? it would be awesome to play 3+ player games like SoM or Super Bomberman.

Hell ya secret of MANA with my friends would be insane! I just hope it doesn't like desynch a lot because it stinks when that happens when your doing net play on an emulator.

Small update from Laxer3A : I spent some hours to review the implementation of TYL and found may be some place where improvment can be done for speed. I did some test and I was able to get a few fps.
There is actually 3 areas where I am checking right now : - Skip completly transparent tile earlier in the rendering . (=use less cpu for these cases) - I optimized the code itself a little bit. - Go to swizzled texture.
From what I check these 3 improvments can get me around 3 to 5 fps in game like Street fighter or Super Mario World (out of 100+). That is not really huge (2 to 3%) but still worth it. I need to test with heavy games like Axelay.

Yes, but super mario RPG rely heavily on coprocessor... Axelay is just very heavy with the graphic chipset which is a better test for what I am tuning right now.

Laxer3a, is there any chance you or YoYo could release a patch for 3.0 (3.0b) that will have SRAM saving implemented into it? That is the main fix I was hoping to see in the next TYL. But seeing as the first release would be ME version, it leaves us 2.01+ users out in the cold for a while. We 2.01+ users, since we are restricted to use the non-Me version of TYL, a fix in the SRAM is what we are really looking forward to(well besides wi-fi mutliplayer). But I'm pretty sure we can wait on wi-fi multiplayer until it is fixed and working correctly.
I understand you guys are extremely busy and have life outside of coding, but this patch would be greatly appreciated. I know you could use the SAVE STATES but it just doesn't feel like your playing a SNES games without having in-game saves.
Thanks for your time and good luck coding guys!

You are missing the point with our release system.
When we release 0.4 there is going to be 2 release at the same time : 0.4 ME and 0.4 without ME
The SRAM bug is fixed. So the 0.4 will be fixed. We didnt release any patch in between because STATES can do the same job for you.
Bye.

Hey, its been a few weeks since the beta testing and I was wondering on how TYL is doing right now? Are most major bugs fixed? Sorry to bother you guys but its been killing me since I haven't heard any updates. I understand you guys are busy and have a life to lead so I dont expect lighting fast responses and updates. Again, thanks for your time guys and all that you've done to help the PSP community.
Keep up the good work!

isn't one of the forum rules not to ask when new versions are coming?

Hmm...what an ass kisser. I never asked when the new version was coming out. Tell me exactly where I stated that please? I was simply asking if there were and updates or breakthroughs fixing the pre-release TYL. Now if thats asking about when the new version is coming out, then delete my post. If not then stop trying to be a mod please...

lunasicc >> Relax man !!! :-)
I was hesitating to answer to kyrth saying that you didnt ask for a precise date. I also got no news from yoyo these days... So I was going just to skip his comment. As you reacted quite strongly I felt I had to answer.
No there is no problem, and we are still working on it. The problem is that we didnt had so much time these days. (I add to do 2 release to customers last week at my work)
Each time I code on my PSP I end up still coding at 4 AM having to go to work after... So I need to stop for a while.

Kyrth no need to say sorry. I guess I shouldnt bother the devs about updates on TYL and just be patient.
Laxer3a, its understandable that you're busy with work and such to code. I was just curious on where TYL was at. Anyways, take your time and give yoursefl breaks whenever needed, no pressure!
Thanks for the little heads-up on TYL too.

Hey people! Lighten up a little bit! I was just joking... Maybe it is the so called ...culture thing. That post made many of my friends here in Greece to laugh (although some laughed because I was waving my shotgun at them ;D ). I should know better that it isnt funny for everyone. Sorry if I caused any trouble. It was *just a joke*. P.S. Btw I dont have a sister. It is a common saying here in Greece (yes I am from Greece too) to use a fantastic (non-existance?) "sister" for every ...dirty job P.S. -?- (I am not counting anymore...) Keep on smiling! I did it only because I am so exited about the upcoming release
