Not to mention the official devs have official SDKs and access to hardware, documentation etc

Why didn't this official SDK leak on the web?! If it was available, could we do a lot more?

i think they are VERY VERY well protected and contracts stating you will die and sell your soul to sony if your version leaks

isn't it like large thousands of dollars?
We should start a "Give the Snes9xTYL dev team fund" so they can buy it and make the emu better. With this SDK do you get the right to create UMDs?

i think only sony has the ability to create umds. and i dont think they will give up that right any time soon. i might be completely wrong but i think i read that some where.

1/ Official Sony SDK leaked once on the internet (a part of it actually.. some header files). But I avoided them voluntary, because I knew I would be starting the TYL project and didnt want to have legal issue for the sake of this project.(contamination issue) Yoyo and I had a discussion about it. Thats why as an example you can find that yoyo discovered some graphic mode of the gpu by himself by tweaking parameter and looking at the result when people started to play with GU... and posted the result at ps2dev. We could have searched for this leaked SDK, and just put the constant in the code if it was there. But we never did and will never do. 2/ Even if you access the full SDK. It will not bring SO MUCH knowledge we dont have already... I know it is annoying the sleeping mode issue with ME. But except that, we dont need it anyway. (*cough* well network stuff could but *cough*) 3/ Sony would not sell a SDK to us. Even serious companies are refused by Sony. (I know one of them who was refused when wanting to buy an SDK) 4/ Sony would never allow an emu on UMD anyway, they dont have nintendo license. And actually that would be quite funny I can imagine Sony paying nintendo for the license. That would be too much funny :-P Nintendo would probably refuse to sell it anyway. Knowing that an emu like this released as an official product would probably boost PSP sales against the DS.

You guys are honest people not to use the official SDK!! Because it seems to me that coding with that should give you 100% access to the PSP?
If you used it, how could Sony know?
EDIT I've done some reading and a SDK for PSP is not what i thought it was. I thought it was only a CD or DVD with all needed programs to compile stuff, but i've seen pictures of a PSP SDK, its like a PC tower + a PSP with cables coming out of the back.

well if u use the SDK to create official signed programs sony can probably read that signature and see which SDK is used..

I think the SDK DOES NOT SIGN the program but Sony does it when burning or releasing the application (ie UMD or special event). Else it would mean that the SDK got an encryption key... Which would be a huge risk for Sony. Basically PSP used for the SDK are probably PSP with Firmware 1.0 + alpha for dev. Programmer never sign their appli themselves.

I'm using 0.3me and so far everything seems to be working great. Should I upgrade to 0.4.2me or have 0.4.x introduced new bugs and stuff? I don't want to upgrade if it works worse than 0.3 and 0.3 is really working great anyway. I have a 1.5 PSP. thx!

ok, nice ^^ but what does "- compatibility lowered" mean? (from the first post of this thread) does it mean fewer games can be played with 0.4 than 0.3? :/

"- compatibility lowered" was referring to issues with 0.4.0 i think, 0.4.2 works way better
