Well, let me set this up for you. I stumbled upon this great program about a month ago when I was just curious to see if an emulator even existed for Palm. I was given direction by a friend to YoYo's LJP site. At that time 0.8 had come out. Aside from a few minor technical issues I had with the game, I have enjoyed playing the roms I do have. The thing is, at the time I first discovered LJP, I had the Clie TJ27 (still do sorta...) which is NOT compatible (As far as I know) with Sony's Game Controller GC-10. That was one of my issues about this game its kind of a pain without a controller, but manageable. I mentioned to a friend of mine that this TJ27 model was a replacement for the earlier SJ22 I once had, and discovered that the SJ series is compatible with the controller. He made an offer that, since he didn't have a handheld of his own, he would purchase one like my previous model, the SJ, and in exchange he could have my TJ one that I had. We've done this, re-hotsynced most of the data onto our appropriate models, and everything is working well. And I have purchased the controller already, thinking I was set. However, I forgot that the SJ22 has Palm OS v4.1 and did not know until installing LJP on the SJ that it required 5.0 or later, seeing as how on the TJ it has Palm v5.2.1. And as a result now can't run it, and already have the controller on its way. As a result I guess I'm left with one of the following choices:
1) Find out if it is possible to upgrade the OS on the SJ22 to a supporting later, 5.0 version, 2) Know if there is any possibility of a version of LJP that will work on pre Palm 5, 3) Convince my friend of returning/exchanging the SJ model for one that both has Palm v 5 or later AND will be compatible with the controller. (Is there such a model? I'd like to at least stay within Clie if possible) 4) Give up take the SJ but not be able to play LJP. (hopefully it won't come to this) 5) Give up on the SJ, see if my friend will take it, and just keep the TJ, which I guess will just mean no controller, as I am assuming it won't work on the TJ. I still don't have it but I've already committed to buying it.
I hope one of you can help me and understand my issue here. I'd REALLY like to go with one of the first two options if that's possible otherwise it will be somewhat more complex. Thanks in advance.

I'm not a programmer, but I believe that LJP with OS4 isn't going to happen; also, even if it did, I don't believe the SJ22 is fast enough. If you can get your TJ back, do so. It DOES work with the Sony Game Controller, as far as I am aware. I use the GC10 with my TH55 without problem. Check 1src.com for details, but I'm pretty sure the TJ works just as well as the TH. You just need to make sure you download the updated drivers from Sony's website. Also, in order to make the controller fit easily over the TH and TJ models, you need to remove the inner tab covering the wire extension.

1) Find out if it is possible to upgrade the OS on the SJ22 to a supporting later, 5.0 version, 2) Know if there is any possibility of a version of LJP that will work on pre Palm 5, Completely impossible. 3) Convince my friend of returning/exchanging the SJ model for one that both has Palm v 5 or later AND will be compatible with the controller. (Is there such a model? I'd like to at least stay within Clie if possible) Maybe the best option. BTW, only Clies work with the GC. 4) Give up take the SJ but not be able to play LJP. (hopefully it won't come to this) What? Can you live without LJP? ;D 5) Give up on the SJ, see if my friend will take it, and just keep the TJ, which I guess will just mean no controller, as I am assuming it won't work on the TJ. I still don't have it but I've already committed to buying it. All in all, better to have LJP and no controller than the controller and no LJP. Final note: Anything with PalmOS below 5.0 is very outdated nowadays and all the cool stuff only work on 5.0 and up.

Well you guys are awesome. I really appreciate the help. No I CAN'T go without LJP. In case you haven't noticed, I guess I wouldn't be stressing over this this much if I didn't like LJP. But I do, it's one of the great things about having a Clie since I can't get a PC right now. (Although even if I did, the Clie would still be a necessity, because of the obvious portability factor.
So, you're saying the controller should work with a little tweaking on the TJ? That would be awesome, and a little hardware modification is something I'm not completely averse to, I'm sure I can do it. I'd be kidding myself I said I wouldn't rather have my TJ-27. My friend here has the SJ. That's not even an issue, I think he just wanted one as he had nothing of the sort. I'd definitely like to keep the TJ. For obvious reasons, let me see here: 1) Palm 5.2! 2) Built-in camera! (I'd have have to pay for the accessory to get it on the SJ. 3) Twice the RAM! 4) 200Mhz CPU versus whatever SJ runs on. 5) I wanna play LJP with my controller, dagnabbit! 6) Maybe other things I don't realize yet...
Anyways, this is very good news indeed. I originally heard the controller wouldn't fit on the TJ. But modifying the controller had not even crossed my mind, and usually I'm pretty hell-bent on getting this issue resolved lol....
Well, I just wanted to say, thanks again for all your help and am looking forward to the controller now, on my TJ if I can make it work. Either way, finding this program has been great and has been great fun. With all the roms I'm planning on getting and currently have it would seem I may have to get another memory stick soon! I figured the 128meg one that I have now would be enough, but between the pictures I take, and filling it up with roms, that may not be the case for too much longer...

Well, just went over to 1src.com and it seems that it is indeed the case that with a little work the controller will work with the TJ. There is a lot of info over there...

I've got an SJ33 PalmOS 4.1. Man I wish I had a TH55... or a Treo 650.
Heck, at least I've got a PSP! (That and PSP updates are what brought me here).
Thank you YoYoFr and Tinnus.

Get a Tungsten|E off eBay for cheap, you'll be able to do lots of fun with it, even though it's old and slow, at least it has OS5
