A screen control like this one (even if it's nice ) won't be usable imho. 1/ it can only be used on 320x480 device, since on 320x320 you will hide the screen with your finger. 2/ it will take either memory or computing time to check the area where you did tap the pen. 3/ it will be hard to have more than A/B/Sel/Start buttons (think of Snes). But I recently purchase a NDS and the touch screen oriented gameplay gave me some idea... ;D Regarding the GBA module, it's not planned since 1/ it will be slow on most device. 2/ it's not really retrogaming.... (primary objective of ljp)

i totally agree that useing the screen only controll would be near impossible, because you cant touch in more than one place at a time. but yoyofr, gba is\will be retro pretty d**n soon since they came out with the new handheld DS ( or whatever) so technically, its just as fair game as gbc IMHO. i would love to use my T3 for gba. i have tried the firestorm emulator, and it blows. barely works at all, and they are charging full price for a buggy beta POS . sorry if thats rude, but ive been keeping up on this. all i use my palm for is emulation (mostly).

According to Nintendo itself, the DS isn't the sucessor to the GBA (they call the DS more a 'handheld' than a 'portable gaming system') and hence the GBA is still the current system in the Gameboy line and an up-to-date videogame system. There are a lot of GBA games still in development too.

Also, the fact that a 3rd party might release a GBA game after nintendo officially or unofficially dumps the GBA doesn't mean that its still a live system. I'm pretty sure that the snes was emulated to a certain degree before the n64 officially rolled out. Look at the age group targeted by the gba. How many 8-13/14 year olds have a palmOS5 device? seriously? I dont mean to be rude, but nintendo ows me like 25 bucks for sending a years worth of nintendo power magazines to someone else Da** you NIN!!

GBA isn't just for kids. Heck with target demographics... I'm an old kid (28, so not that old). The DS and Micro play GBA games. Also, to my knowledge, GBA games are still being produced in limited variety.

I usually think of retrogaming in a similar way to the MAME guys: if it's been over a year since the stores have stocked a section dedicated to new releases for a product (I say this because some people still sell new atari 2600 carts, but that's definitely retrogaming), then it's retrogaming. The GBA still has shelf space and new products being sold however; the manufacturers are still making direct profit off of the products.
There are a few ideas behind retrogaming: 1) reliving old memories 2) understanding the old (and simpler than modern) systems
I feel that once the original producers have created and sold as much content as they are planning to, the game market for that platform is no longer market driven. Suddenly, the only places you can get games from are resellers who have old stock stockpiled somewhere, and by trading/buying used. At this point, that platform becomes a fixed piece of history, and the games that are out there fully define the platform. Sure, hobbyists might develop something new, but the platform itself is a piece of history.
With the GBA, developers are still pushing its limits and selling new content; we still don't fully know what the GBA is, because it hasn't finished "becoming" yet. Most people wanting a GBA emulator today want it to play the latest games, not out of a fond memory for when they bought their first GBA unit 5 years ago and played their first game of Super Mario Advance.

That's right... most of the people wants an emulator just for skip the pain of buying games... And that's a fact.

Questions about GBA support are... not needed. Note that the above sentence can have two interpretations but some people know very well what I meant. Try to guess it and if you do, don't say it (hint: they are exactly as useless as questions about Colecovision support. Now keep your mouth closed ;D)

The point is not whether people understand it or not, is what I actually said/write that counts. No one can do anything based on something I didn't say... and I think you understand me. Good even you understood, I want people to understand but just don't discuss it anymore. ESPECIALLY asking stuff about it like dates.

On the topic of age... I bought my daughter a Zodiac for her seventh birthday! (my wife also has one) funny thing is...my wife locked up her zodiac when I was at work & it was my daughter that showed her how to do a soft reset! - - - my first PDA was an Abacus ... j/k ... it was a Hand Spring Deluxe when I was twenty something.

a quick question about another handheld system ... anyone know if there was ever an emu for the gamecom system? I never owned one but I'm thinking it had a touch screen which would be perfect for palm emulation!

I got my OS5 when I was 11... Of course, I got LJP at age 12. I'm 13 now. I think that's the legal age to be online...

:)Tried a bit of googling and found that it seems there's no emulator known -even for PC-.
Anyway, I read there're only 20 games more or less, which you can find in other game systems. Personally, I think the best one was Duke nukem 3D, wich you can already enjoy thks to Metaview
Anyway, good luck on your search! I'm 13 now. I think that's the legal age to be online... Well, I know a little girl who's 3 1/2 years old and uses internet ;D .... eventhougt she dosn't know what she's doing

For that matter, I know a cat that browses the internet by sitting on/batting the keyboard and mouse. I think the cat's around 2.
