It's really no problem, I just have to find the time . The meeting on Monday was moved to Tuesday and I really worked day and night right up to that meeting... maybe today I can finish the forum scanner. As for the software... no, I won't be using vBulleting, but rather phpBB, most likely the 3.x branch.

I just set up a trial installation... I will delete all data before importing, so you can go wild and try it www.little-john.net/forum/It's not customized yet... however I have to say that I really adore the default theme...

OK... extracting the data from proboards works... now let's see how we get it into phpBB

Seems like I succeeded in thoroughly confusing proboards Now it lists all posts that I've read as "New" Anyway, I had a look through the phpBB2x->3x Converter and well... this is definately too complex. It's really well coded and I'm sure works great for transfering an existing forum, but if you just want to insert some data it's definately an overkill. I think I'll stick to the SQL way. The only thing that confuses me right now are the formats, especially the time formats but there has to be an explanation somewhere in the code... I won't be in tomorrow, so well, maybe friday... BTW, Henk, I haven't forgotten about you, I'll try to send the package out tomorrow and if anything goes wrong, there's still friday.

Just a tiny update... if you want to make sure that links to the forum still work after the move, just post the links like this: www.little-john.net/forum.php?thread=1181573696&page=2 . It's a simple script that forwards to wherever the forum will be... that way no matter where we move the forum, we can just change the script and all links will still work. The only parameters that it accepts are thread and page, but I think that's all we need, right?

The other bonus to the Treocentral forum software is it has a really nice mobile version of the site that can be easily used with a Treo.

Maybe so, but I'm not going to spend 160 + 30/year just for that...

BTW, I've just fooled around with a mod that at least allows you to read the forum: www.little-john.net/forum/mo/Works great, but we'll have to hack in reply/create post support

Wonderful. I didn't know how much their software costs and wouldn't want you to shell out tons of cash just for that functionality. What you've got created there looks great though! Anything's better than nothing, in my book. Thanks for putting in the effort!
