On the snes emualtor whats the trick in getting castlevania x running faster/smoother? or even other games? Is it normal for it to be choppy, i have a zodiac 2 brand new BTW. I also use to own a gp2x late last year but sold it so I can build me a gaming pc, and I notice that castlevania was slo on that too.

Faster and smoother are opposite things. Dig up the thread on here about optimal configuration for SNES; it tells what settings to have on/off for slower devices. The only other thing you can do is use an overclocking program to speed up your Z2. Most SNES games are pretty smooth at 416MHz or faster.

After being thoroughly confused, because Dracula X was sold as "Vampire's Kiss" in Europe (much better title IMHO, Dracula X sounds like a porn movie) I found it.
The game works almost full speed, even with my default settings and no overclocking... Video - Zodiac Smoothing enabled (this is vital, since display updates are slow without it) Frame Skip 2(~40fps out of 50) or 3(~47fps out of 50) - Don't set it to Auto... Fast Sprites - Off Transparency - On Renderer - Exact
Audio Freq. 11khz

For what's worth, I think "Vampire's Kiss" sounds like a porn movie as well _Em, the Zodiac's default clock is 200MHz, no way in hell it could get to 416 (ok, I know you're aware of that, but remember we're talking almost half the clockspeed here)

233 is the max, but it gets unstable... 216 is realistic.

Well, 216 with the offloaded graphics accelleration should be playable, as Hans already said. The 416 was for comparison, so anyone reading this thread would know that you can't get smooth framerate in SNES on a 133MHz device. Zods are a bit of an exception though, due to the fact that they have two processors.

I clock the Zodiac to 232 without any problems. 233 will crash it after a few minutes.

Zods are a bit of an exception though, due to the fact that they have two processors. Since when? Unless you mean the CPU and the graphics chip, of course.
