So why does RC8 not work with Game Genie? Does RC7? Do any of them? WHY or WHY NOT!?!?!?

None do. For a while there was a GG menu that did nothing. That is now removed. Try Nesem from KalemSoft for Game Genie.

Yep, we did the menu but never got around to actually implementing it. LJX should have full GG support though. (BTW folks, sorry for no LJX news recently, I've been working on... something else ) (no, not (only) GBA)

Game Genie - stop cheating, cough... Hey now, we have to every once in a while with an impossible level or a messed up level when it was dumped.

I wouldn't do it myself, but I understand the desire, especially when playing on non-standard hardware and controllers. Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden are hard enough without having to play using a cramped Treo keyboard.
That said, we already have save states, which helps quite a bit in the "cheating" field.

Or, have Auto-fire, or pausing, or turbo, etc.
Basically it is cheating to play in an emulator. But much more fun than lugging a snes around (and a TV...) :-)

...as does being able to speed up/slow down gameplay. Oh, yeah, I forgot about that one! And a very useful one at that. I've only had to do it once or twice but it was the only way to get past a point in at least one game I've played.

tgwaste, why should i be using 1.0 instead of RC8? because its newer and less buggy? do you need a better reason?

Some games won't work if multiple controllers are plugged in -- this means they won't play when LJP 1.0.1 is used.

The multiplayer code "plugs in" multiple controllers to the virtual console, and lets the end user switch between them. There is currently no way to virtually remove all but one controller, which means games that detect the hardware fail to run. A list is available in one of the threads... I believe one such game on SNES is Super Mario RPG. There are others on SNES and other platforms that exhibit similar behaviour, or assume that if the controller is plugged in, that controller is being used -- forcing simultaneous use of controllers when you only have one available at a time (unless you're using a BT gamepad as well).

So far we've found at least 3 games that won't play anymore because they detect the multiplayer adapter in 1.0 Final. Here's the list.

I think in one of the message threads, Tinnus pointed out that people who don't read the forums don't deserve to know where to download 1.0.1 Of course, the problem with that is that everyone who doesn't do the extra research posts in the forums with problems from 1.0RC8 that have been fixed in later versions :\

I think in one of the message threads, Tinnus pointed out that people who don't read the forums don't deserve to know where to download 1.0.1 gonna have to disagree with Tinnus here. You should not need to read the forums to download the latest version of an application. thats silly. Honestly (and I cant wait for the replies on this one). I hate how our web presence doesnt keep up with the project. we need a stronger web site thats maintained on a constant basis. if I knew web design I would had done this already but unfortunately my designs are limited to very basic things. this is a good, strong project and it needs a proper, well maintained 'face' for the world to see. most people dont like scrapping through forums to get their information. anything I can do within my ability to help, im always glad to do...
