Hello everyone, I am just wondering if it possible to attach a hard drive to your palm, so, that you can hold more stuff on it? I know that there is a guide that tells you how to attach a hard drive to an ipod, but I couldn't find one for a palm. Yes, I know, most ppl say that it defeats the purpose of having a palm, since, the device is supposed to be portable, but I was wondering if it is possible to do that? Thanks a lot

You could get a lifedrive, it already has a hard drive in it.

That's true, but I mean if I wanted to modify my palm, is it possible to attach a hard drive to it? Thanks EDIT: What if you were to use a microdrive instead of a hard drive? Is there any way to hook this up to a palm?

The LD HD, AFAIK, is using an IDE interface only existent in the LD.
But what you could do is somehow create an IDE-to-SDIO interface and drivers. Do a serch for IDE-to-SDIO interfaces, because someone probably attempted to do something like this already...

IDE is more like CF-Card interface...

Aren't there CF to SD converters? Maybe combining 3 or so gadgets together...

One thing though, what's SDIO and is IDE(Integrated Drive Electronics)? I have heard both terms before, but I can't recall what they are.

SDIO - serial interface used for memory cards and other stuff IDE - parallel interface used for HD, CD and DVD drives, very similar to CF (Compact Flash) -interface and derived from the old AT-Bus

I actually have a 4gb sd card, which permite to get resized films, all the emulator roms i wish, zdoom and the "Z" family. I guess i'll be a bit short on space if a psx emulator is released one day. but actually i have enough space. Using a mini compactflash harddrive like in the lifedrive would kill the battery fast, meanwhile a 4gb sd card keep it alive a bit more time. And as the 8gb SD/MMC are still out, they will be very affordable when a GBA/PSX emulator will be released (if ever).

Some One Did that with an iPod mini one time. They needed 8AA batteries just to get the normal life that an iPod would get when they had the drive attached. Although they were successful in the end. The Drive would most likely need to be formatted in a specific way (fat32 is what most palms use) does the ld have a micro drive in it or a 3:5 drive?
