I get full sounds in Sonic 1, no sound in Sonic 2 and 3. Just curious if others have the same experience. Sonic 1 runs pretty well on a Z with frameskip 2, fyi.

Sound in Sonic 2 and 3 and the majority of Genesis games requires Z80 sound emulation to be on (which slows emulation down a lot).

Tested, Sonic Compilation (Sonic 1,2 and Dr. Robotik) and Sonic 3 (U), all have sound on T3
Config:
Video -------------------------- Smoothing - Fast Display size - x1.25 Frame Skip - Auto
Audio -------------------------- Sound - On Freq. - 22Khz ZX80 - [v] FAST - [ ]
CPU Core - C

Where's your mind at to use the C core? I think that even on a T3 the ASM core should be faster.

No, C core is faster. ASM is slower and more stable, that's all.

Actually, it's the complete opposite. (don't try to tell me ASM is slower than C, I'm a programmer )

Different palm run on different code. I've try C and it definitely faster. Have you try Firestorm? C run way faster than ASM.

Lol You know sonic runs faster than Mario, maybe Sonic is coded in C Unless there is some debug code in asm, asm will definetely run faster than C

OK, this explains it. When I enable z80 sound emulation, the sound comes on in Sonic 2 and 3, but the game slows down to become unplayable. The question of course is whether this can be solved by some clever coding in LJZ/LJP, or whether we are up against the limits of the hardware in our handhelds. Makes me wish I was a coder...it would be fun to solve this problem.

It'd be possible, but hard, to gain some speed. Lowering the sound quality to 22 or 11 khz (11 sounds bad but is faster) can be a temporary solution.

The only solution is to turn Smoothing - Off Display size - x1 Or some kind of overclock software.

Faster, I have read that smoothing and screen size have a tiny impact on performance on Zodiac. This is because these video options are hardware dependent, unlike other Palm devices. Also, I tried Lightspeed to overclock but did not notice a difference in game performance (although I did note LJZ crashed more).
