I believe it uses a lot of ASM? If so it'd be very hard to port.

I don't think it does. The Mac version doesn't iirc.
But ZWolf3D would be cooler for me than ZDoomZ or Zquake.

Well... I don't think if it would be cooler than Quake or Doom (technically speaking)... but it would be interesting to play with one of the first FPS... Wolfenstein was for me the key that let me open the door to FPS World!!! ;D

Personally I do love playing Wolf3d more than Quake..
It just seems more fun despite the bad graphics.

There are open source Wolf3D ports without ASM, icculus.org has one (linux port) and I know for sure that the GP32 version doesn't have any ASM (besides the gp32 specific stuff anyways)

Look no further. Drumaster has 3 Wolfendoom conversions on his site lajulie.free.fr/pages/main.htm . All three run as pwads with Doom2. They worked seamlessly on my Zire 72 and appear to be true to the originals. You would never know you were playing them off the Doom2 engine. No need to nag for a zWolfensteinz.
