I was thinking that since the T|C only has mono sound perhaps the emulator could have a mono option so that it would require less processing.

I think all Palms with an earphone output are really stereo, however the speaker is mono (it combines the two channels and outputs as one).
If a 'mono' option is added to the emulation, it would have to output only one of the channels (left or right), which would make the sound weird.
If the emulator outputted the two channels combined into one, that would be more processing time, and not less. (time to render both channels, and then to combine the two)

(time to render both channels, and then to combine the two) I agree, but this is feasible for some games, because some have the option to play sound in Mono themselves, and if LJP took one of those streams, it wouldnt sound weird, but would take less processing time.

Just drop the sampling khz down too lowest settings

The relationship is simple: More khz, more procesing time... Snes and Genesis emulation runs at very acceptable rate using 11Khz audio sampling.
Btw... I've just finished another game... Castlevania X... with this, I have 8 finished games whit LJP!!! ;D
