I am thinking about getting a PSP, and I've got a few questions. Can anyone tell me the ups and downs of the PSP? That includes stuff like homebrew stuff. Isn't it supposed to be difficult to get homebrew stuff onto a PSP? What kind of homebrew stuff do they have out there? What are the best licensed games out there (made by Sony)? Or any other things that might help me make my decision.

Pretty much the only reason I own a PSP is for emulation.
If you can get your hands on a ver. 1.0 (upgraded to 1.5) 1.5 or 2.0 (which can be downgraded to 1.5) you're ready to go with any emulation that is out there. It's extremely easy to put emulators on your memory stick and you just run them straight from the PSP's main menu.
If you can only get a higher firmware version then you're going to need a copy of GTA for the PSP and expect that you won't be able to play all emulators, or emulators that take advantage of some of the PSP's features only available with 1.5.
As far as emulators go, pretty much any game machine from the beginning up to the 16 / early 32-bit era. If you grew up during this time, the PSP is all you need.
Being unable to upgrade your PSP pretty much forces you to miss out on any new commercial games, but it looks like the mph loader or run umd might have an answer for this in the future.
Good commercial games : Ridge Racer, Katamari Damacy, Monster Hunter, Initial D, etc.
Good commercial games to look forward to: Final Fantasy? Tekken, Ghouls and Ghosts, etc.

what kind of homebrew stuff do they have out there. I'd like to have the most up to date version I can have, but I'd also like to have emulators. what kind of emulators do they have out there. And don't the older versions not have web browser. Isn't there supposed to be a homebrew web browser.

thanks for that. it seems that sony is working on a commercial emulator themselves. i will post the link tomorrow because i have to get to homework. aside from that, does anybody know if there is a memory stick duo to sd card converter? i am not looking for a bulky expensive one that costs $80 but a small inexpensive one, if it exists.

Does anyone know of any websites where you can get videos for a PSP? I've tried google video search but they dont work because of what the people at Sony call a "copyright block" on the psp. Son if any of you have a website that you have used before or even one that you have just heard of, please tell me.

Know what, you can circunvent the "copyright block". Google a bit for "psp video" or "psp video encoding" or "psp video conversion".

I have firmware 2.6 on my psp so I cant have any homebrew software on it. I was wondering if it would be possible to put an emulator into a website? If it were, would it be possible to use the controlls on it? I have used the offline web portals that have games on them and the controlls dont always work. Sometimes they say something about turning on the num-lock but I dont know how. If it isn't possible to put an emulator into it is it possible to copy the html and files from websites onto the psp and play them on it?

(yeah I didn't mention anything but what ar15 said "suggests" some illegal/unallowed stuff. Beware of saying too much ) And canto86, be discrete. If you think the subject could be in the grey area, contact him personally (hint hint: PERSONALly).
