Hey, I was just wondering if there was a cheap/easy way to extend a psp's wifi range. Preferably without having to take apart or modify the psp its self. I dont know if there are any antenna that will work or any other things so any tips or thoughts will help.

Sorry about that. It is not possible to extend the wifi range of your PSP itself. The PSP just detects any wifi signals that come to it. So what you want is to extend the router's wifi range. Here are some suggestions: www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone/wirelesstips.mspx

What Im trying to do is "borrow" the wifi signals of neighbors around me who are too lazy to secure their wireless connection. On the link you gave me it says something about getting a wireless repeater, so as the true american I am, I searched google for a homebrew way to do the same thing. The main thing that came up was a thing called a cantenna. My question is if anyone knows anything about how to build one or something that does the same thing.By the way, I know that what I want to do could potentially be illegal

So when I think the discussion has passed my conception of illegal this topic will be locked But yeah the deal is you have to raise the range in BOTH sides since it's a 2-wa connection. So a repeater seems like a good option since it would work both ways around. You're in the wrong place to ask this though, try wi-fi specific forums or something. Most people here (at least in the PSP area) are kids playing with their toy ;D Anyway if I were you I'd look for a specialized place AND more active.

Most people here (at least in the PSP area) are kids playing with their toy ;D Hahahaha. That's a good point, but when we get serious about playing with our toys, we can get pretty well educated about the internet and lots of other geeky stuff, including the extension of wifi range. Also, I am not sure if my previous comment was completely true. After I thought about the PSP not sending out a signal but just detecting one, I thought about ad-hoc play. Considering that, I think that the PSP must somehow send out a signal but I don't think that you could extend this detection without breaking open your PSP and modding it. But that's just coming from a kid playing with his toy so take it cum granus salis (that means with a grain of salt for all you non-Latin scholars out there) ;D.

Of course the PSP also sends signals since the connections are 2-way Even if the initial signal (the detection one) should be stronger in the router side.

Hahaha. Good solution. It is a luxury to have. Once you get it set up so that you can share your printer and files wirelessly and put a WEP key on there then you're golden.
