I really want to try win-hand to access my computerfrom my pda via usb. However it requires a pp connection. I don't want to use softick ppp because i dont think it's worth paying for.
Does anyone know of any other palm ppp apps?

There's one that supposedly works only for PPCs or something but actually works with Palms too, can't remember the name though

Softick ppp is the only one that I've ever seen, if your pda and computer both have bluetooth you could set up a reverse dun connection. I haven't heard of anything else beyond that.

Are you talking about something like PdaReach? It's made by the same people who do PdaNet and allows you to view and control your PC from a Palm attached by USB.
That or you can just set up a VNC server on your PC and run Palm VNC 2.0. That's how I access my Windows server from anywhere...works great.

Might I suggest astro share. I have not personally used it but It is remote desktop for your mac/win/palmospda. It looks like it's packed tithe with features. And Softick PPP is great software. There are no bugs that I can find. And on the palms that I have It doesn't conflict w/ hotsync. There is however a hardware Imposed bottleneck of 115,200 bits/sec and a software imposed limitation of 57,600 bits/sec. both of these are on the palm side not the computer/softick ppp side
Now for the Juicy stuff. To bypass the software limitation go to prefs app->Connection->Cradle/Cable->Edit->Details->Speed This almost doubles your bandwidth. Hot syncing is faster too but you have to change the desktop settings too. If you are on windows: Right Click on the hotsync icon in your taskbar. If you can't see it then unhide taskbar inactive icons. On the menu go to setup->Local and set the speed to as fast as possible. This will take advantage of your newfound speed in your palm while at the same time being compatible with slower palms.(unlike just setting 115,200 bps). On MAC OS 9: go to the palm desktop menu->your username->setup Go to the connection menu and change the speed of whichever way you connect to the mac to as fast as possible. ----------------- Enjoy your newfound Speed ------------------ To overcome hardware limitations you just need a different connection type such as bluetooth or better yet wifi, true broadband
