I discovered this when my adapter for my Zire 72 went kaput. It was the middle of the night, dark and I was going to bed. So I put the adapter into the pilot and OOPS I jam the plug into the Mini-usb a port. I hear a loud crack and the led on the top flashes briefly. So I think oh (4 letter word)! And put It in the right jack. The led doesn't light so I think it's broken. In the morning my batts were still next to dead so I concluded it was a cooked adapter and decided it was time for emergency surgery. The part that was most vital to the success of my operation, I searched for, for hours and finally found it!!! An adapter that was within the electrical tolerances of my Zi72. Then I cut the head off the adapter that came with the zire and the adapter that I had and stripped the wires on both adapter and head. I plugged in the adapter and touched the wires and the charging led came on and IT WAS ALIVE!!! But then the screen went blank. I had reversed the adapter's voltage!! I removed power and the screen came right back up .Whew! It was running again but oh no! calibrate my digitizer, set the time zone! everything was gone. So in that day I discovered how to Instantly shut down the palm even if the reset button wasn't working. Just reverse the leads on the adapter. It's quicker than letting your bricked palm discharge and you don't have to charge again. I hopes this helps someone experimenting with over clocking. -------------------------- The best stable settings I can achieve with pxa clocker(free) are 520 MHz(zire 72) 492 MHz(Life Drive)
