Hi,
I've just released 2PlayMe 3.3 and a small update for the timidity app. Timidity runs no also on a TX and Treo 650 and can be called from 2PlayMe to play midi files straight from the memory card.

Hi Metaview,
Timidity works great on my Zire72 and I really appreciate the fix. Would there be anyway you could give the voume a bit of a boost for this app?
However, I cannot see where to call the Timidty player and midi files in 2PlayMe. The List containing PocketTune, Internal, etc does not include Timidity. Am I missing something? Could be my excitement.

Got it thanks. And I modified my above post just asking about volume for Timdidity. Could the standard volume in Timidity be given a boost?

Did you set the volume to 100%? It's quite load on my device. I can adjust it to make 100% louder. You could also during the play use the "right" button from the 5-way nav to make it louder.

I have the volume at 100% on 2PlayMe and now have adjusted using the "right button". I would kind of like the option to have it realy shake me out of bed. So 100% louder would be great and then one could adjust it for quieter if so desired.
So if you could, I'd love the max volume to be 100% louder. Even 50% louder would do it I think.
Thanks-you.

A small bug I've found also with using Timidity with 2PlayMe. (not to complain really)
When the alarm goes off using Timidity player, I have to press a button to get the Snooze/Close screen. In other words, the alarm plays with no pop-up Snooze/Close. Once I press any button, the alarm stops and the pop-up appears.
So when I press the power button for snooze, there is no snooze. I have to turn the device back on and then select a Snooze/Close option.

That's right, but timidity is like the internal midi alarm, both are not multithreaded. Means I fire the song playing and the function returns, when either the song is finished or was interrupted by the user. Then I use a easier approach for the snooze-window which doesn't allow me to catch key-downs. All I might do in the next update would be to check if you used the power-btn to interrupt playing. Then I could trigger snooze without open the snooze-window.
Let's see :-)
Regards Henk

For some reason the smaller (10MB) standard timdity patches found here on this site: yoyofr92.free.fr/Timidity/files/timidity-std.zipseems to offer a more crisp and clean sound than the larger 30MB "eawpats" patches found also on this site, as well as Metaview's. Maybe its just my device - Zire72, but just in case anyone else finds the sound in the Timidity player a little muffled, you may want to try the smaller patches. Now I get a really nice clean sound. Thanks again! (would still like a little more volume for alarm purposes though)

I agree with Kayge, thats what I got for the sound banks. I had to add this line at the end though of the timidity.cfg file #mid -> wav: timidity input.mid -Ow1S -s 44100 -o output.wav to get timidity to work with the new patches. The sound is actually incredible. To deviate a little, I have Guitar-Pro with ForteMP. ForteMP is also a collection of sound banks, but they end in '.gig' I think these files are better than the '.pat' files. What I would like to know is. Is it possible to replace my '.pat' files with those '.gig' files? The sizes are a bit bigger in the '.gig' files. If I could it would be awesome. Guitar-Pro coupled with ForteMP makes for a one man band. Only problem with me, is I need to get a 2.4 ghz machine as I only have 1.7 in order to have songs with more guitars, basses and drums. Guitar-Pro also uses a sound bank system for the former instruments. The effects are totally realistic drums and guitar and quite incredible. (Send me a comission check, Guitar-Pro and ForteMP). Oh yes, and I can download any song (in guitar-pro format), which is like sheet music, then select 'export as midi' as an option. Wallah, excellent midi (of course it depends who wrote the sheet music composition).
Another question, how do I incorporate the Timidity in with a normal midi player? I will do researching myself, but I will check back here for any answers.
Before I forget another question. Is Timidity capped at 60k midi's? I ask this because Timidity seems to hang on files bigger than those.
PS - I'm going to be daring and replace on of the '.pat' files with a 'gig' , but rename it back to a '.pat' We who are about to die, say ***k the emperor.

Well, this green vegetable has turned a shade of yellow ripefulness now. First off, there is no music format called '.pat'. Actually those files are GUS format (Gravis Ultra Sound) and I saw no conversion between '.gig' files. I did figure out how to set up Timidity properly now and I discovered a interesting site www.sf2midi.com and I played around with a few sound banks. Now there is something I can play around with, setting up the perfect midi sound system ;D
