Hello, Just wondering, I know this is an odd question, but if someone can port Media Player Classic v6.4.9.0 to palm, that would be fantastic!!! As far as I know, it's open source, so, the person willing to take on this project can get the source code Personally, I would do it, but I've never done palm programming, so, I don't know how much it differs from Java and C Thanks ;D Edit: Anyone interested?

well, I do but I have wmv files, and when I convert them, they end up being ~300mb from ~100mb, so, a 200mb increase. I just thought if this can be ported, then I don't need to convert these files. Does anyone here know who would be willing to take on this project?
Thanks

Doesn't TCPMP have a WMV codec?

They would have already if they could. WMV is licensed, and you have to pay to use it. I'm pretty sure there's no WMV decoding code in that player, and if it does, it's probably still licensed by $$$.

There is currently only one media player on the Palm OS that supports .WMV to my knowledge:
Kinoma Player 4 EX.
The only .WMV file I've tried on it lags on my T|C even at 531 MHz, but I haven't bothered to re-encode it for better performance. I'd probably have better luck if I could reduce it to 320x240 and encoded the sound in mono(T|C lacks stereo output in any form).
(Hopefully, a Dell Axim X50v should have no problem with its graphics accelerator...)

ok, thanks for informing me about that. I read somewhere that TCPMP(the commerical one) supported .wmv files as well, but no one has confirmed that Thanks

So far as i know the newest version of tcpmp (.072 something) actually does support wmv even though it does not neccessarily suggest that; if of course one installs all the plugins (especially the new ones). I believe this is because most of the WMVs on windows are mpeg 1,2,4... based which are all supported, thus most will actually play with all the plugins installed (i have however run into some problems with bad/non-existant sound in some wmvs on my palm...) ;D
As for kinoma, it is a good fallback, but i perfer not to buy software unless there's a demo, and TCPMP is open source so you shouldn't really waste the money unless you have a smartphone and a good provider...
