Maybe Metaview can answer this. Is it or would it be possible to implement Timidity as a plugin for TCPMP? I have tons of good midis that I like to listen to (especially since they take up almost no space on my SD card) and enjoy the quality I get with Timidity, but the interface is lacking (I'd love to just make a playlist).
Also, the last time I looked for TCPMP all the main official websites and mirrors were down. Anyone know the status of that project?

its dead, but its also open source ... i think i still have source code for last version before it went to Core Player, which is 0.72RC1.0 ... id love to see this project revived ... someone willing to take it up and make a few minor modifications that knows how ... hint, hint metaview & Tinnus. One thing that TCPMP was always lacking was the ability to run the the background ... anyone know how to do that???

We already have an open-source midi player in Timidity, I just don't know what format the plugin architecture uses and how hard it would be to shoehorn Timidity into it.
