error with wads

The original doom1.wad works fine. I downloaded additional wads and they dont seem to work. At the top of the screen I get a message saying "IWAD found: cacophony.WAD" (that's the name of the wad) and then in the middle of the screen another error pops up "CheckIWAD:IWAD tag cacophony.WAD not present"

What does this mean? How do I install additional wads correctly?

You need to specify the addon wad (select it) in the PWAD column not the IWAD column.
