Ok I was lookin around the other post about getting WAD files and went to the site you said. I couldn't get a demo of the Doom that I needed for the Palm because I think it is too outdated for the PC Can you find alternative places where I can get Doom II, and is that the right version to get for the Doom 1 and 2 files? Oh by the way what do you do to go inside the program to get the WAD files? Thanks! My model is Palm Zire 72. Quick edit by Tinnus to point the linkLink to shareware Doom WAD: ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/doom/doom19s.zip

You can find Doom 1 and 2 buying them There ARE places where you can download them but it's illegal and referring to them is against the rules. You mean where in the game they are? In the same folder of the game itself, after installed, I believe.

you said i can get demos and get the WAD files there. So where can I get that? So that is the problem because in the proper ID software site it doesn't have a demo for Doom 1 and 2 so that's why I am asking because I can't get a demo there

No kidding, there *is* something wrong with the Doom, Doom II, and Final Doom pages at id. The demo buttons are shaded and have no effect. It's still possible to get a demo from id software, though. Here is a link to the shareware version of Doom 1.9. ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/doom/doom19s.zip You're welcome. All of us here were once newbies... First you have to install the program to your computer by running DEICE.EXE. Then get the wad file from the folder you chose for installation. When you're finished with the 9 shareware levels in the demo episode, buy a Doom Collector's Edition CD. It has Ultimate Doom with a fourth episode "Thy Flesh Consumed" that the original Doom didn't have. If you can finish those, then make your way through 32 levels of Doom II and 64 levels of Final Doom in the Plutonia and TNT wads! BTW Tinnus, you might consider posting this link on the zdoomz download page to keep the wad requests to a minimum.

Thanks. I only found the Doom 1 WAD file. Do i need Doom 2 WAD file too to play it on my palm? also do you put the WAD files, even though they are window-based files, into the Memory stick of the palm to play? Also i found this site with all these maps free to download, do i have to pay for Doom to play with those maps?? It would be nice if i can play for free.

No, you only need the Doom 1 wad file to play zdoomz. AFAIK there isn't any shareware for Doom 2; but if anyone knows of any, feel free to post the demo.
Put the Doom1.wad file in the same folder on your card as you put zdoomz.zdk : Palm/Programs/ZDoomZ .
Although the wad was created on a PC, it is used just the same on any system that has a Doom port such as: Mac, Linux, Palm, PPC - even iPods! The wad simply has the level information such as maps, walls, monsters, items, etc. There is no platform-specific code in it.
There is very, very slim chance the user-made maps you have found will be playable without buying the full version of Doom. Why? I'll let Doom's authors explain:
id Software respectfully requests that you do not modify the levels for the shareware version of DOOM. We feel that the distribution of new levels that work with the shareware version of DOOM will lessen a potential user's incentive to purchase the registered version.
Most level creators will honor this request, so very few levels exist that are shareware compatible. But go ahead and try; some may work. Look for any documentation that says the map will work with shareware.

Either use a card reader or start ZDoomZ ones and then try it again. But using hotsync it will need a very, very long time to transfer the wad.

Actually I can email you wads, that would work on the psp 2.0 only, im not sure if any other one. They take up about 50mb so i prefer using a high memory stick. I have 3 wads. I bought the Doom collectors edition and just used the roms. The games work fine but no sound. you have to figure out the controls, and also it isnt a demo its the full game. You can even save and load games. Yoyofr is DA BOMB!!!!! If you want wads email me at address removed: NO ASKING OR TELLING HOW TO GET COMMERCIAL WADS!

Um. Again, this website/forum is about the *PALM* port, not the PSP one which yoyo has nothing to do with. Pay close attention.
And no one will email you asking for the WADs because I'm deleting the adress, it's against the rules talking about how to get comemrcial WADs (not called "roms" BTW).

Any other suggestions?

Wad files and zdoomz.zdk go in Palm/Programs/ZDoomZ folder, while zdoomz.prc goes in Palm/Launcher folder or the palm's main memory.

You can hotsync files which your Palm doesn't recognize by renaming the file and changing the extention to something such as .mp3 OR you can download free software called Palm File Browser which works almost as well as Card Export.
