First of all thanks for th great work on the ports Before installing the timidity files zhexen ran and i could see the demo play in the background with a really good fps, but i got timidity errors all the time which made it impossible to do anything. After installing the timidity files (eawpats version) it hangs a long time while loading with a "starting music" message (music plays in the background) after that it goes to the menu but crashes either when the menu music is done and it tries to start again or when he's starting the music when you're trying to start a new game. Maybe a way to disable music and or sound could fix this? I'm new to this program so maybe i'm just stupid... Things that might be useful: zire 71 UDMH 2.3 trail version 9+ mb heap free zhexen 1.0

there will be a new version soon with an option to turn off music. but in order to have music playback, you need more than 9MB of free ram.... I'll try to determine the minimum requirements...

Thanks for the quick reply. To bad my zire 71 only has 16 mb, freeing up 9 was already quite hard...
I'll go and try to free up more and see it it works then.

hmmm you got farther than I have gotten on my T3 (39 MB free) I always got the tim init error, then this morning loaded up all the patch files (larger version) and that stopped that, but it gives a fatal error while loading patches...

I cleaned up a lot and got it to 13 mb heap but still a fatal error after the menu...
Have you tried the other timidity pack yet darhorn2? I'm going to try that one now, maybe it works with less ram. I'll post again if it works.

I havent tried the other pack yet, just the modified version... You might want to try the other one then, because i just tested it and it works great, both hexen and doom 2 seem to run perfectly now quake still crashes but i doubt my old zire is capable enough to run it anyway.

The Zodiac at 200 MHz is capable; your Zire can be overclocked up to 192 MHz to it should be quite playable. Unfortunately ZQuake crashes for us all

darn... loading the other patches didnt change anything.. deleted the preferences and tried again with no change... crashes when loading patches...
if I put the T3 into landscape mode first then it seems to play, but the screen is just white with the words loading music on the screen... though i can fire and move (at least it sounds like it)

I have a Tungsten E and although Doom appears to work fine with 16mb free & UDMH & modified music package Hexen would not. I prevented the music files from loading (just the Timidity.cfg file was loaded) and the game appears to work fine. (Sure would like those music files though.
