Ok, a Palm Zire 71's screen is 320x240 isn't it? Zquake leaves a large chunk of unused space at the bottom of the screen - i've tried setting the screen res to all of them, it won't work. Is there a console command in quake that lets me change the screen res to a custom one like 320x240 properly?

The resolution of the Zire 71 screen is 320x320, not 320x240 and that's why there's 80 unused pixels at the bottom.

ahh, I was just guessing; looking at the screen it looked more rectangular than square.
ok, is there a console command to set it to 320x320 instead of 320x240?

UPDATE: In Doom3, the console command is r_customheight 320 and r_customwidth 320. Sadly, I can't do this on ZQuake on my Palm - yoyo, can you add the 320x320 resolution somehow? Also, I have some performance tweaks, although these will (greatly) affect the quality of models & textures, but the framerate will be much higher on lower-end OS5 palms (like my Zire) - btw, palm zire 71s can only overclock to 180mhz, not 192 (or at least, not mine, but then it's been dropped in friggin' soup before ) Anyway, performance tweaks...copy these to the end of the config file on your card/Palm/Programs/ZQuake/ID1/config.cfg - d_mipcap 3 d_mipscale 30 r_dynamic 0 r_maxsurfs 600 r_maxedges 1800 r_wateralpha 0.5 r_novis 1 vid_nopageflip 1 r_wateralpha and r_novis can be removed; I just added them for more realistic water.

Yes it can be overclocked to 192. Set it to "high" and tap the up arrow to go to 192 manually. Note that 192 might cause crashes, but if you don't experience any... then it's all right ;D

Why not just get the maps watervissed and leave that off

Hey... I tried the settings you set here, edit config.cfg... then when I launched ZQuake, the console show message error for about 4 of the settings you describe here... then... voilá... the config.cfg it's back to it's original set!!!!
Just for the records: palmOne TT5, UDMH
Update: I tried the settings in game... only the "d_mipscale" and the other "d_@@@" works... vid_etc and the "r_*" doesnt work...
Well... with d_mipscale over 1 the game look awful... never set it to 0!!!!!
