The timidity driver is designed to play midi tracks. Quake doesn't use midi for music, uses cd audio... I donĀ“t know if ZQuakeZ can use cd audio(or mp3 tracks)... but if ZQ can you will need a lot of storage to complain that. For me is perfect to play any FPS with no music at all.

oh! i thought it was only my machine, so that means that so far no one has music on? if so why does it say on the readme file you can have music? ?

That's because originally Quake is a Cd-rom based game... or Cd+.... it has data tracks plus audio tracks... The music is not embeded into the PAK files. If you enable the music (on PC) the game reads the audio tracks from the cd... that's the reason that I always play Quake 1 using another audio cd... for example: Iron Maiden instead the Nine Inch Nails tracks... ;D

Hmm... A soundtrack I like the CD from the X-Files Movie Soundtrack, which I just reacquired after losing a while back... got a good deal on ebay for 99 cents! Anyways, I liked using this CD in Quake 2 and HalfLife, but like wantan says, ideally no music at all is better, cuz for the most part it can be distracting and you may not hear that creature sneakin' up behind you...
