i have other paks besides the original quake, how can i get them working??
i have one called starship, so i made a folder zquake/starship
it came up on the game, but when i pressed launch it only launched the original games.
so hhow do i get other paks to work???

i don't know if u can b/c the game engine isn't in the pak files.
However gr8 idea and Tinnus/Yoyo u guys should consider making a port that would b able 2 play any pak/wad file.

wat on earth do you mean game engine, i have the original pak of quake, it works fine, i was just wondering, that if you have another pak, how to load it?

Try just putting the PAK inside the ZQuake folder and not creating a special one for it, I'm not sure how it works.

Other paks are really hit and miss I've found, some will work and some won't. I have the Rogue and Hipnotic paks and they work great. Make sure your original Quake pak is in folder zQuake/ID1. Your modified pak, for example Starship in folder zQuake/starship (just like you did). If you launch that folder from the zQuake launcher it should work...HOWEVER, having tried several paks, I found that many simply do not work and launch your original Quake pak instead.
Like I said Rogue and Hipnotic are sure things, other than that I tried Quake Rally and got inconsistent results (worked but very glitchy). I also tried Xmenquake and for the life of me could not get it to work. Airquake also did not work and I think Haunting did. *Edit* Souls of Evil also works.
Anyways there's lots out there to experiment with you'll just ahve to try a few, And if anyone ever got Xmenquake to work let me know what you did it really looks good.
PS: Many modified wads work for zDoom, but that also is hit and miss. I can tell you which ones work for me if you want. And lots of mods for Duke3D as well.

Were can i get these paks. i understand you really cant tell me unless they are free. but i have googled for paks and even these for over 3 days and i havent found these ones or any others. ntm quake rally downloads dont work anymore. How do you find these mods?

Quake shareware files: [ftp]ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/quake/quake106.zip[/ftp]
Quake 1 shareware and full version pak files will work with ZQuakeZ.

It keeps giving me a "This file is not suitable for running on windows xp" thing. 2) Will the shareware paks stop working after a while becuase they are shareware? |

1. Can you open it from the command line? Start>Run... type cmd then drag'n'drop deice.exe into the window that opened. Hit Enter and you should be prompted with a good old DOS installation.
2. Nope, they're not time-limited. The shareware limitation is, much like Doom, just one mission vs. 3 missions in the full version.

You have to have the original games, your own purchased CD's to get the pak files and wad files for Zquake, Zdoom, Zhexen and Zheretic. If you dont own the games, you can only play the demo paks found on ID's website. ID being the creator of the games. The link is posted above for the FTP i imagine navigating from that spot in the FTP will find you the other pak/wad demo versions as well.
Zdoom/Zhexen/Zheretic/Zquake/Zduke are FREE methods of playing the games on your palm devices (basically just a launcher) HOWEVER if you dont own the games you cant play the full versions on your devices either!
Its that simple.
