I have a brand new T|X with UDMH and a 1 gig SD card. When I load up ZQuake, the demo loads up each level just fine when I'm in the menu, however when I try to load a new singleplayer game, the difficulty-chooser level loads up perfectly, but when I actually choose the difficulty and area, the game seems to freeze for a few minutes and then eventually gives me this error:
Couldn't spawn server maps/e2m1.bsp Load failed. ]
I have replaced the .pak file several times now, and done the same with Zquake.prc/.zdk with no luck.
Any help with this would be appreciated.

Which PAK are you using? Have you tried getting the PAK from another source? (ie: your CD might be scratched or something)

I'm using the Quake Demo I downloaded from ID software. No CD.(I don't know where to find an original quake CD other than Ebay.)

Are you using MetaView's version? If so, have you made sure multiplayer (in the launcher) is disabled? Are you using UDMH 5.0? Did you try out just after a soft reset?

Yeah, make sure you are using UDMH 5. If you arent, drop everything and put it on your handheld NOW. At least get rid of the earlier version. Memory corruption with the TX and UDMH earlier than 5 can KILL devices.

Yes, I'm using Metaview's version 1.4, with UDMH 5.(actually 5.2 I think) I do often launch Quake after a reset(for some reason that I can't figure out, opening Quake or Doom after playing Duke or GTS Racing gives me a soft reset ) And if you mean turning off multiplayer by setting it to "one player" in options, then yes. If there is another way to do that then I'm probably missing it.

Try using yoyo's version, its alot more stable. I had the same problem on my clie. Metaview's version cant load maps with certain names in pak files, but it will load the same map if its in the maps folder outside the pak. (i found this out with a mod for quake1 and half-life2 im working on)

Metaview's onscreen keyboard map loading doesn't work well, but the popup console works fine. Some memory issues that cause these ports to crash have been fixed by Metaview, so you can now play Quake repeatedly without a reset. Tucker: You are trying to choose episode 2 which is not present in the demo. Either choose episode 1 (to the left) or buy the full version.
