Ok so far I've done the following
- hotsync'd the quake prc file - loaded the zquake.zdk under PALM/Launcher/Programs/ZQuake/ - Am using UMDH to free up memory (i put in 99999 in the box) - using the PAK file from the demo on ID's site (put it in the ID1 subdirectory in my ZQuake folder)
when I click LAUNCH, my system just soft resets. no errors or anything. I'm very anxious to get this working, any help would be appreciated guys.

i think u put 99999 in the box but ur device doesnt have that much ram. i set it to 60000 with my lifedrive but dont set it that high till everything else fails. i know that ppl run it with much lower settings.

i set it to 999999 and after pressing OK, i go back to check and it appears to set itself to the highest it can go to (34463k is what it says)

34463k is absolutely more than enough to run Quake.

Yes, the ZDK goes to PALM/Programs/ZQuake/ and not PALM/Launcher/Programs/ZQuake/
Hehe.

I think you should never allocate more to much Mem for any ZGame, as they all need some Storage Mem to work. Take car to leave memory alone. Try with low memory settings, and raise them until you get the best performance...

Just to confirm, ZQuake seems not be workable on a TX with the current UDMH version. Reason? Unkown, but I guess the largest block is too small. I've also the feeling that the way the memory is allocated on all the Z-Games aren't compatible with UDMH.

I get "Not enough memor" message when I try to start Zquake with tx. According to Filez I have 76 megs free on tx itself. Or is the memory used in zquake different than the memory I can use on palm?

I found at least 3 places of problem:
1. limited dynamic memory: You know it, and UDMH tries to help. Ok, next... 2. fragmented DBCache: That's a real problem. On my TX I usually have to make a reset before I can play Duke3D. The DBCache gets filled because of the game engine which is loaded. There is no way to flush the DBCache, even DBCachTool doesn't help. 3. Even UDMH has its limits. Even if it reports the a lot of things, at least the way the memory is allocated in the Z games it just can not allocate blocks larger as the largest free DBCache block. The maximum size is around 6 MB on my TX. The largest block is just the limit as the memory for decrunching the game engine or such has to be in one piece.
Regards Henk
BTW: the 76MB is the storage in the NVFS, not ram

Got the game working UDHM, but have the same problem as you do, need to reset the palm to rerun the game.

Hey!
Ive got a strange problem with my tx and quake...the problem is I set my sleep mode time to 30secs, so after 30 secs my palm will go into sleep mode...but the problem is when i play quake it will go to sleep mode after 30 secs...i dont know why? Another Meta-YOYO games works perfect!

the AutoOffTime is reseted every x frames. When you need longer for the x frames than 30 secs the device falls asleep :-)
