Hi all,
I'm new here, and I'm planning to buy an Xplore M28 pda phone.
Came across this and got me all excited! Playing Quake on a pda phone! wow!
Just need to know, is Quake for Palm compatible with the Xplore M28? I hope it is :-)

According to the readme file, ZQuake requires PalmOS 5 and a 320x320 screen or better. The M28 has the first requirement, but only a 176x220 screen.
Unless someone else here says otherwise...

There is at least an ongoing work to make ZDoomZ etc. low-res compatible. This versions then might somehow run on the M28 as long as it is Palm OS 5.

Zquake will be very slow (tryed it scaled down on my treo600) Zdoomz low-res is meant for 160x160, so probably you will see only the top left part of a 320x320 rendered image. Btw this is probably not too hard to fix. Btw I dont have much time now. I think I can't work on zdoomz until mid april.

Zquake has 3 sizes already included: 480x320, 320x240 and 240x160. The last would fit quite well. But it is really small.

Thanks for the reply guys :-) It would be awesome if it can be played on the M28 :-D Helps burn away the dreadful hours when traveling between states and going overseas :-D The Treo cost too much for me to be used as a backup phone and PDA :-(

what processor does the Treo600 have? If not mistaken the M28 has a 167Mhz Arm 9 processor.

the 600 has an ARM processer clocked at 144mhz by default. I can get mine overclocked to 192 in most instances well enough to play games without crashing (the only way to get SNES games even close to playable on a 600).

Other Zgames and many LJP modules run very well! I cant help since I am very busy at the moment and I think I can work again on zgames after mid april. And btw it will be difficult to tell if it runs on the m28 without a real device. Does it have a memory card slot?

Yeah the M28 does have a SD/MMC slot, can take up to 1GB as with all other Palm devices :-)
