hi,
ok, this is my first post, so i have to thank the team and say: congratulations, this emu is awesome!
but back to topic: how are the configuration-profiles named? i mean, how where the names created? it looks like crc-names, but my compression-rog gives me a crc-num, which is different from the names in the /profiles folder.
i just ask, because i'm interested...and, because i like to clear a profile-file after i deleated a game.
anyways, keep up the good work and please don't let you discourage you by a minority of ignorants..

Hi, Yes, it is based on CRC (may be the CRC in memory, not the ROM as file, yoyo may answer to this later). It is a problem with noticed : - If we put the filename from the original file, then it is not portable - If we use CRC, profile are portable BUT very hard to find them. It is quite a dilemna... That may lead to a profile manager in the next version. Still we believe that the idea of portability is very important. For the moment, if you open the file into a text editor you can find the name of the ROM inside it actually... This may be the only solution for a while. Sorry for the problem, please accept it for a while. Laxer3A

yes, i noticed the game-name in a file editor. i really was just curious where the name comes from. but why isn't it portable, if it is named by the filename? a user won't change the filename of the rom and most users use goodnames, i guess. anyways, it was more interest, less making "trouble"

Actually now we could use the name we extract FROM the ROM, extract it and use it after the CRC... Why not ;-)
Like :
4521584_MYGAME.ini
As the "MYGAME" will be "quite unique", this should just work beautifully... :-)
Thanks for starting the discussion.

rom name aren't really constant... few people uses goodsnes that's why profiles files are named with crc. using both CRC+rom file name can be interesting but perhaps not the best solution because it can lead to different file name between 2 people using the same rom. I guess a profiles manager would be the best. the rom name in the profile is the one taken from the rom header. next version should have more information about the rom in the menu (name, size, type, ...) and a profiles manager.
