Hi everybody,
Laxer3A here.
I met Y (the author of the other snes emu) today and we had a long discussion.
Most likely we will do an update about it on our web site. But for the moment, I will just write on the boards here.
1/ Y is interested to join our project while maintaining his own emu.
Which is good, his emu beeing using a different base, some games will work better on his emu that ours. Diversity is always good, whatever the eco-system is.
2/ Y seems to never had so much interest into modifying the core of Snes9x. Which is the opposite of our philosophy.
So his skill and our skills are a perfect match.
3/ How, when, what is not decided... I promised him that he could have the source code and have a look, that's it.
4/ I take the opportunity to say that we all have a social life, all have a job (the youngest of us is 28 if I am correct and I am the oldest actually) and a social life.
We will probably continue to work hard for a while until it reach a "correct" level that satisfies us (yes, we are not satisfied yet) and then probably work on it only once in a while. It will be more open and we will leave to other people to maintain it and help it to grow better.
I don't think we can keep the pace that we had for the last 5 weeks. And I think yoyofr need some sleep :-P.
Actually we were thinking that 0.2 would be released a month after 0.1 and it was released only 18 or 19 days after the first release.
Most likely the 0.3 will follow the same pace. But 0.4 may be slowed down...
We are investigating the following areas right now : - Mode7 optimized second version. - Mode7 hardware accelerated for SOME case only. - Netplay. - Sound over ME.
After that... Time to slowdown I believe. Yoyo may add his opinion here as we never publicly showed our expectations.

Hi, We will probably get too much tired before Y told me that he is VERY busy. And I have quite some VERY hard schedule on my job too (work like 60 hours a week). Normally with that kind of software , the release of emu's should be in the mark of every 3 months... Not days or weeks... Most likely from 0.4 our release rate will slow down.

PSPUpdate never got a penny outta me, yet I've been there since june I think. PS : it seems that this thread got a link from pspupdates guyz Its no suprise to see this linked, almost everybody there thinks your emu rocks. You probebly never bothered to check, but your first release made quite a ruckus in those forums. ;D And I personally cant wait to see yet another release. Anyway... I was just wondering, is Y gonna be working with the current releases or going solo with the opened sources? Keep it up guys! C'est du vrai bon travail!

1/ Y will have access to the source, but for various reaons (and probably avoiding code branches is a good one), if Y does a modification, it will be added to TYL. 2/ Of course, further credit will be given to Y for this work on the emu. 3/ I believe yoyo will still have the leadership concerning how and when to release the new versions. As it is a teamwork effort, somebody has to synchronize everybody's work and decide when to stop or what to do. Until now it has been only between yoyo and me. But I dont see any reasons for somebody else taking the lead in the dev. Yoyo is the one with the most inner knowledge of the emu, and the one with a web site, a forum... No reason for changing the way we will release new versions. Laxer3A TYL featuring Y and Smith ?

PSPUpdate never got a penny outta me, yet I've been there since june I think. They earn their money though advertising. The whole point of the site is to encourage advertisers to pay them. Anything that might be questionable is immediatly removed. They pretent to be interested in the PSP (and I'm sure 99% of their members are) but the owners are just interested in money.

They also have adverts, but which sites doesn't (at least they don't have annoying flash nuts)? I like the forums, I like the news, I like the complete files area - I dislike the obvious money making, but I certainly don't have to click any adverts, become a member or something like that. Also be aware that this site, as controversial as it might be, helped Snes9x TYL's popularity a lot.

Honestly...as said before me...PSPUpdates does in fact have very informative topics, headlines and also isn't out trying to steal TYL's spotlight as many may think, we actually applaud these guys for what they have done for the PSP homebrew scene...between TYL and Yoyofr's NeoGeoCD emulator...they are showing people out there that the possibilities for PSP homebrew are endless. With the addition of Y helping out...we see great things in the future for PSP homebrew as well as the TYLY??? group...spotlights on these guys, not on us. Keep up the excellent work guys LeGioN120802 - PSPUpdates Moderator

Hi,
Actually there is no problem with web site that : - Do not change the file in the distrib. - Are giving proper credit to our work. (Same as we are doing with other people too).
And PSPupdates with TYL has complied to this...
Now the reason for the message at the beginning of the emu is : - People are selling emu package (just go on Ebay or Yahoo Auction). - People not caring about giving proper credit to the source on their web site.
I believe as long as people respect this, there is no issue at all.
We have been completly ignored by some sites, well I believe that they felt like they have been concerned by our message, so they did not promote us. Fine.
We gave no name, so if they feel they had to ignore us, there is a reason for it.(=feel concerned by our message)
PSPupdates had some issue I believe with the latest version of the neogeo emu from what I heard because of modification of the release file inside the archive.
For the TYL project, no problem has never occured whatsoever, so I bet for this issue they did a meaculpa.
Anyway, to avoid even any discussion or negociate AFTER problem occurs, thats why we put the message at the front of the emu AND encrypted it.
We dont want to get in [Thats you... hey thats not me... WTF... bla bla bla... (insert your favorite useless discussion here) ] type of negociation with site distributing the package.
We are sure then that people will read it, and that the users will be then fully aware about who, how, when...
Sites like pspupdates or other contribute to make this emu well known and we are glad they help us.
