You need to adjust the settings, I get a lot of games to play at 60 fps with no errors or FS. Just search the boards, there is a lot of info here.

Make sure you're running at 333MHz, use the approximate+psp accelerated mode, set the sound to 11KHz, or even emulated with no output if you don't want to hear the crap produced by the PSP cheap speakers.
Those are some good general settings.

Also if the game will allow it, use the psp accel only. Another trck for better fps, but a smaller screen is to make the screen size 1:1 and then turn off smoothing. (I have gotten some of the FX chip games to run by turning everything off)
