does anybody have any optimal settings for playing chrono trigger at at least 30/40 fps in explore mode and battle mode with the music running at normal speed also? The game plays pretty normally untill i hit a battle in which the fps slows down to a crawl, as does the music, and the only way i can put the music right is by putting the frameskip up to 3 or 4, which means the fps is pretty shabby also...

PSP accel and approx soft Ignore fixed color: on Fast mode 7: on
I played through it with FS 2 with no problems. It's very important Vsync is off, most of the time the game will run about 55FPS, but if you have Vsync on it will be cut down to 30FPS unless you're hitting above 60FSP.

Frameskip in auto is better, because in very zones with this settings and frameskip 0 is full speed, and other zones is necesary frameskip 2 for full speed.

I find auto annoying because with a constant frameskip my brain gets tricked into not noticing it, but when it changes I really see it.

i've tried all of the above settings, but still am only getting about 20 fps.... i'm running in through fanjita's eboot loader on a FW2.00 psp if that's any help...

Oh yeah, turn on ignore add/sub modes too.
I just checked my PSP and those are the exact settings I'm getting an average of 55FPS in battles with.
If all of those are set and it's still not playable then it must be a FW 2.00 thing.

Are you using v0.2c snesTYL and eboot loader 0.8.5 or 0.9?

Well, then I got no ideas. With 0.8.5+, 0.2c works fine. Just keep experimenting.

I think you're expecting a little too much. With the settings listed above, battle animations will be fluid, albeit a little slow, and the music will slow to a crawl. However, it's playable.

yeah, once i'm in frameskip 1, the actual game runs perfectly, it's just the music that bugs the hell out of me... i'm one of these people who needs music in a rpg to run properly..i cant stand it when it's going so slow hehe... well, hopefully the sound may get sorted out in a later version...hopefully....

Oh, I usually have the sound off (Well, emuated with no output). That's probably why I don't notice anything.

why not just disable sound all together then, you may get a littler performance boost

because the sound in chrono trigger is one of the most important aspects... It has one of the best soundtracks i've heard on a snes rpg game to date...

A big performance boost.
Oh, and psphreak, I'll contact yoyofr about your sig. This kind of "free *insert gadget here*" stuff seems not too good to me, but he's the admin.
