It has been a long, long time since any news has come out involving TYL, and since it was voted best emu for psp, people are dying to know.... Is TYL dead? Will you finally pass the buck on to someone else?

no and yes.. well yoyo has done ALOT more work on the emu.. and has given some updates and wat he's done... HE said he 'might' of had a christmas release.. but he didn't make it.. then said 'release soon like.. beofre new years..'.. And he now hasn't been on msn for 4 weeks totally dissappeared... maybe sony kidnapped him for his brilliance. so lets just hope he's ok.. and the emulater comes out

Hi Laxer3A here, got reply from him yesterday... Yoyo was busy during XMas season for a a trip and when came back was overloaded with his work. Moreover, a Xbox360 fallen from the sky and did not help the situation.

I also check this website every day. Thanks Yoyofr & Co, you're doing great work! The only thing I don't like is, that you don't post any news on your main page (last update from August '05), but sometimes only at the forum.

And then Yoyo appeared out of the heavens bearing good news. Ok, I say we begin the church of Yoyo Christ and start worshipping right now to save time for later.

Hi, Received the source from latest version. Yoyo told me about a bug in the mode7 tuning I did. So I need to take a look to it... Yoyo need also to fix some stuff before release. But at least give us some days... We will try to release before two weeks. If you are lucky may be beginning of next week. Yoyo is wondering about which features need to be added to this release. Personnaly I am for game genie feature... Because quite a lot of people requested it. Yoyo talked also about mp3 players feature as it is already available in the other emu. Of course the main event is the sound moved to the Media Engine. :-) and mode7 tuning. See you guys. He he he Its going to rock within two weeks on the forums

We can wait, there's no problem, you guys do what you need to do.
about the sound on the media engine, i heard that the Media Engine it's kind of like another processor, right? and when is used on homebrew makes better the performance, like the PMP i think they told me.
and yeah, not the forum, YOU GUYS R GONNA ROCK IN TWO WEEKS!

Take the time you need! I would also like to know what the benefits of the Media Engine are?

Media Engine is a second CPU inside the CPU.
We use it as a coprocessor to do the sound generation of the SPC700 (snes sound chip).
Now you will have 44 Khz full audio quality at the same speed as "no sound with emulation".
The SPC700 CPU is still emulated on the main cpu I believe... the sound GENERATION is done on the ME.

As we said before, the network feature is done... But yoyo told me that is still some issues that keep it quite unreliable.
So I dont know what yoyo want to do (put it or not)

I currently use Snes TYL 0.2C on my 2.0 firmware Psp via Fanjita's eboot loader and the Choice menu. I see in a sticky that Snes TYL was not really intended to work under 2.0 but for me, everything works perfectly. My question is, will it still work under 2.0 firmware after the new release?
Is the media engine the same as the Psp 166mhz 3D GPU or are you referring to something else?
EDIT: No worries, I just read some interesting details describing the Psps four key blocks:
1) CPU core 2) Media engine 3) 3D GPU core 4) "Virtual Mobile engine," a reconfigurable assistant chip
The more that is understood about these blocks, the more potential emulation will have so I am kind of excited about all of this. I was under the impression that the Psp only had a single 333mhz CPU and a second 166MHZ 3D GPU but I was wrong.
I guess since no one had used the media engine, as far as I know up until recently, it was never really talked about.

Very excited to hear about the media engine move. I was thinking of updating my PSP for upcoming titles, but now, I'm pretty much set at staying with 2.0. Here's hoping the next release works with the bootloader!

No... it will be very annoying and the people will be asking about it...

Here's hoping the next release works with the bootloader! Well dont forget that you can still play 2.5 games on your 2.0 firmware so to me, there is even less of a reason to upgrade past 2.0.
