Hi,
Yoyo planned to release stuff at the beginning of the week after I sent my code with a bug fixed inside. I also send to him some newer stuff which should be tested and integrated.
He told me that he is really really BUSY this week (I was hoping he could do some stuff after work)...
Most likely I think he will release this week-end. But I can not talk for him. Anyway guys, its close...
See you.

Cannot wait for the new TYL. Ive been waiting for this update since last Augest. Its good to see that even in the midst of their hecktic lives, brave people attempt to satisfy the public with emulators. YOU GUYS MAKE ME PROUD! *sniff*

here's a status update for next release : * some small bug fixes (gfx rendering, memory card issues, ...) * 2 releases : one with sound mixing (not emulation, only mixing) on the media engine, requiring kernel mode, so firmware 1.0 & 1.5 one with standard mixing on main cpu, in user mode, so probably working on all firmware until 2.6 (but not sure since neocdpsp is user mode only and doesn't seem to work well on 2.0+ firmware) * mode 7 optimizations for "not rotated" rendering (for example maps in rpg, ...). * minor new features : delete rom in file browser, delete save state
I'm currently working on stability issues when you go to sleep mode & resume. As soon as it's ok, I'll release it. Perhaps I'll implement a new menu using neocdpsp work from radius, I've to check with him more to come...

If you regularly run with the sound enabled then yes, there willl be a performance increase. If you usually run with no sound there will only be speed increases in mode 7 areas. (Just according to the information posted just now)

Hello everyone. I'm new here, but I've been following through the development of this emulator since day one. I just want to send out my highest respect & love out to the TYL team, for allowing me to get the most enjoyment out of my PSP. I know this may not be the place to post about feature requests, but since this is a coming soon thread, what the heck...here goes. Following up on the emu releases a while back I noticed you guys fixed the deal about the screen displaying properly for most games. I'm a fighting game freak (Street Fighter & such) I was wondering, if it's not much to ask, if you guys could get rid of the pesky black bar on the top of the screen when the seetings are> Full Clipped / NTSC:on. I was thinking maybe adding in the emulator menu the ability to move the screen frame left, right, up and down would help a lot for many games...not just the street fighter types. It's called screen panning...I think? Many games in newer systems support this & I think id would be a great addition to your emulator...just a thought. Another thing that I'm sure a lot of people would like would be the ability to rip accurate sprites from your PSP. Seeing how this emulator supports layer removal, it's not only the best Snes-PSP emulator around, it's also a very awesome sprite ripping tool. I'm just a little bummed out about the snapshots coming out in low resolution jpeg format. It would be a blessing to get accurate PNG format snapshots...this would also help a lot of people making homebrew for PSP, specially Lua guys like me. The last GBA emulator is in it's early stages, yet it takes perfect PNG format snapshots from games. Could you please consider implementing these two things abbilities into your close to perfect emulator? I would be forever thankful if you did, and more than willing to donate for the already awesome cause. Thanks in advance & keep it rocking.

Hi,
This makes me remember the good old days when I wrote a ROM analyser to do the rip (there was no emu at that time). :-)
I did my university project by making a small RPG engine using the FF4(jpn, eng : FF2) sprites :-)
For the speed increase, it will be noticable when map are NOT ROTATING... so for most RPG, it should increase...
For the screen shot dump, yeah why not... I think BMP or TGA is easier to create than PNG (dont need to include a lot of libs...) and anyway your favorite graphic tool should be able to read it.

Just a quick questions about the next TYL, will it be any faster? Will I finally be able to run games and get constant performance, or will I have to wait a bit longer? Im not complaining, Im just wondering.

Yes, Yes and Yes !!! I think we have answered what are the changes like 4x times already.
You will have high audio sound quality at near 0 cost for the main cpu. The mode7 optimization will give you nice performance boost in RPG maps. (NO ROTATION only... Don't complain about stuff like mario kart or FZero)
It will be faster... but dont ask for IMPOSSIBLE THINGS. Games using special chipset ARE SLOW and most likely will be until the end of days...
The PSP is not a PC... It lacks the raw power to process all you need for full speed, whatever we do.

just to be clear :
I would add : compared to low audio sound quality.
using the me for mixing allows to have the same speed at 11Khz & 44Khz sound mixing frequency. but if a game is very spc700 intensive (the snes dedicated sound processor), then it will still be slow since spc700 emulation is done by the main psp cpu.

Yoyofr, the sound emulation on ME is impossible because the snes cpu and sound chip are working together, right? But in another systems(neo geo, psx, genessis...) is possible?
