Firmware 2.00 here, using "User Mode" version, and it is a lot slower than 0.2c, using 44Khz sound makes it even slower. I have noticed menu response is slower too even when no rom is loaded, for example scrolling down in the "agreement screen" takes much longer in 0.3 than in 0.2c. It looks to me that there is something in the background eating resources or something. Activating/deactivating fast mode 7 makes no difference for me as i am using non mode7 roms.
Great work, but i am sticking to 0.2c

Best psp emu so far, well about equal to his neogeo cd emu, thaks again and expect some donations from me.
For those who say there is nothing new, you must be using bad settings. Because i'm getting full speed (equal to or > than 55FPS) on most games, aside from ones that use special chips. Can't believe i'm playing megaman X3 full speed with sound, full screen clip with the screen adjusted is perfect.
I you think the older version is better, your settings are all wrong. Try playing around and you'll see what i mean. I'll post my settings later, i'm having too much fun with this new release. Out.

Here it is my settings, i don't like hearing such bad things about this great emu. if you think that the emulator still runs crappy after playing with these settings then you must have high standard. Tested with psp 1.50 with the snes9xTYL-0.3me.
auto sarestate timer: off auto save updated sram: off
sound: on frequency: 44khz
gfx engine: psp accelerated frameskip: 0 rendering: full render pal as ntsc: on smoothing: off speed linit: on video sync: off gamma correction: 2 calibrate screen: just make the screen taller by pressing down untill in you opinion the picture is least distorted as possible, then center the new screen up and down only, untill you think it is centered. Use street fighter as a guide, the black border at the top helps.
xpu clock: 333mhz show fps: on
DEBUG/HACK MENU
show rendering passes: off
speed hacks: on
ignore fixed colour: off ignore windows clipping: off ignore add/sub modes: off ignore pallette writes: off
fast mode 7: on no transparency: off fast sprites on sound fix: on
obj: on bg0: on bg1: on bg2: on bg3: on
now save settings as default settings and let me know if that helped. And go donate to these coders they deserve it.

Thanks a lot. Most of the games that I've tried run faster than before. It's unfortunate that saves from the older releases are incompatible with the current release, but I found a way around it - Just make a save state in the old one, copy the states to the new one, load the state, then save.

Ok, now I'm a little confused. Some people says it's slower and other that it's faster. But it seems that the _2.x users_ thinks it's slower, but what about _1.5 users: (like me)? What do you think of this upgrade? I'm at school right now so can't check it out ):. Anyway great work Yoyo, Laxer3a and Thunderz and keep it up, you're awesome (: And for you who though that the emulator would be perfect, read the second sentence of Yoyo's post and stop complaining! I'm sure this is the best snes emulator for the PSP out there... (;

Thanks yoyofr, the sound mixing is fast and "calibrate screen" option is good. however, ME cause some sound interference(22khz) in some games... can you fix this problem in the next release?

I don't know where you got this me trick from for the hardware version, but it's really impressive : for me super mario all stars jumped from 40 fps (between 30 & 50 fps in mario bross, sound at 22khz) to 60 fps (sound at 44 Khz !). That's almost a 50% speed increase (ok between 20 and 50%), but still amazing !
Maybe this is something we could use for neocd too... anyway congratulations are in order !

Now many games run faster. Super Mario RPG and Yoshi's Island are quite playable with almost full speed, although I keep my frameskip at 2, so the music seems slow.

First I would like to say thanks to the developers for all of the hard work and dedication to this excellent emulator. This to me is the definition of homebrew at its best.
I have tried this emulator on 2.0 and 1.5 and I notice the 1.5 version is definately faster with no doubt. To all of these people saying save states no longer work, games are slower, this is not the case at all for me. My advice to them is to delete all settings, old .ini files and any other configs and to start configuration again. For me, this is a very good reason to own a 1.5 Psp since now it is obvious that you will never get the full performance out of emulators in the future unless you have kernel mode.
Assuming there is no way of accessing the ME in User Mode which I think is the case.
Now I hope the Psp Psx emulator will be able to utilise the ME because it makes a huge difference. Before people make comments about poor performance or slower games, they should make sure they have the correct settings and have started configuration as new. One simple setting can make a diffefrence between near full speed and very slow.

Being on 2.0, I didnt see the sound benefit, but that doesnt bother me too much. I've noticed some speed increases across the board and I'm loving it! The cutscenes with the metors looks a lot smoother in FF5 and FF3 is even more playable.
Thanks a bunch T, Y, and L!

Hi just wanted to start a list of games and their status.
I got my ingame saves from the old vers of emulator by copying PROFILES,SAVES to new emu folder. 1.Using old vers of emu ,Go in game with ingame(builtin SNES)savegame. 2.Save State using emu's save/loadstate. 3.Copy then copy PROFILES,SAVES to new emu.
Still no real way to import InGame SNES Saves, then have em actually save and show back up. Crude but it works. Hope this helped out someone.
Quick Setting Rundown For {MOST} Games Sound=44Khz (Must have! Most games run HORRIBLE SET LOWER!Don't make sense but hey I'm not complaining.) GFX Eng=PSP Accel, in most cases. Render PAL as NTSC=off (enables upto 60FPS)Some games require ON Smoothing=On Speed Limit=On (Most games with Hack/Debug Menu tweaking will go over 100!!) VideoSync=off (till more testing) CPU=333Mhz Show FPS=On( till fully tweaked)
Hack/Debug Menu Show Rendering passes=On (for tweaking, lower is better, preferably 001) SpeedHacks=On Sound fix=On OBJ,BGO,BG1,BG2,BG3=On
Current games tested:
Street Fighter Alpha 2 running 30-45FPS FrameSkip=1, but you can run at 0 (perf emulation!) with a turbo on (2x optional, defaults to 1) to make up speed! 45-55FPS! Butter!
Killer Instinct 45-55FPS consistent. Have to go into Hack/Debug Mode and turn ON Ignore Palette Writes. Also No Transparency, and Fast Sprites, optional. FrameSkip at 0 or 1 Breathtaking!
Super Off-Road FrameSkip=0=30FPS FrameSkip=1=22+FPS Very Playable
Super PunchOut FrameSkip=0=48FPS FrameSkip=1=30FPS Solid FrameSkip=Auto is also very playable
SoulBlazer FS=0=60FPS Gorgeous.
Demons Crest FS=0=42+FPS Very nice at FS=1-2 Another awesome leap from .2c! One of my personal Favs!
ActRaiser GFX Eng.=PSP accel.+appr.soft FastMode7=On FS=0=36+ on the skydive Mode7, very nice. Think it was 10< on .2c! FS=0=60FPS In Act mode FS=0=60+In Sim mode
CatleVania IV GPU=PSP Accelerated FS=0=37FPS FS=1-3=15-25FPS This game I cannot tweak for anything short of turning off sound =-( One of my Fav franchises! If anyone can get running decently, let me know!
Contra III - The Alien Wars GPU=PSP Accel.+accu.soft. Render Pal as NTSC:Off Fat Mode 7=On FS=0=52+FPS Another nice Improvement over .2c. I'm like a kid in a liquor, err candy store! ^ ^ The Mode 7 Lvls are nicely run at FS=1-2=20FPS Does lag...bad with alot of onscreen enemies, and bosses.
Dixie Kong's Double Trouble FS=0=60FPS On world map FS=1=25+FPS fast enough to play. Ignore Palette writes=On
Diddy Kongs Quest FS=0=41+FPS No special tweaks, good to go!
Donkey Kong Country FS=0=41+FPS Ignore Pallet writes=On Fast Sprites=On
Final Fantasy II GPU=PSP accel.+appr.soft FS=0=60FPS World Map, 50+ Battle Fast Mode 7=On Fast Sprites=On
Final Fantasy III GPU=Approx. software FS=1=30+FPS Ignore Fixed Color=On BG3=Off More tweaks sure to come for this one!
Final Fantasy V GPU=PSP accel.+appr.soft FS=0=51+FPS In Battle, 60+World Map
Final Fight This game runs I think the same, maybe tad worse than .2c If anyone can get running decently, let me know!
Final Fight Guy Same as FF
Final Fight 2 FS=0=60FPS SOLID as a ROCK!
Final Fight 3 FS=0=60FPS Nice at least the better 2 ofthe 4 run like a scalded dog!
Front Mission FS=0=50+FPS
Front Mission:Gun Hazard FS=0=50+FPS Ignore Palette writes:On Fast Sprites=On
Mortal Kombat FS=0=45+FPS Major Improvement!
Mortal Kombat II PSP Accel.+accu.soft. FS=0=45+FPS This is by far one of the most impressive transformations. Went from 2-3 FPS mess on .2c, to flawlessly playable! The difference made my jaw drop.
Mortal Kombat 3 FS=0=40+FPS
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 FS=0=42+FPS Sorry not a huge fan of the MK's did'nt spend much time on tweaks.
Magic Sword FS=0=60FPS Flawless, like I'm playing a SNES?!
Street Fighter 2 : Turbo GPU=PSP Accel.+accu.soft. FS=0=58-60FPS Ignore Fixed Colour=On Incredibly Fast!
Star Ocean Ignore Fixed Colour=On Ignore Palette Writes=On Fast Sprites=On FS=0=50+FPS (60 in battles!)
More Tommorow, been a long day. Hope this helps out!
Awesome Job to everyone who put their time, and effort into this new update. Can't say enough good things about it. If the save swap from last vers worked it would be perfect, but its not a perfect world. Thanks again guys you all deserve a pat on the back! And a BEER!

Ok, heres what I have to report so far. Some games have HUGE performance increases. But unfortunatly, some games "Like Megaman" are still about the same. This is rather confusing to me too, because with games like Megaman, turning off the sound is all you need to bring the game speed to a constant 60fps. I was thinking that the media engine would help that out a little, but I guess not. Oh well, I was kinda hoping for the perfect emulator, but I guess that is pure fantasy. I'll just be happy with what has been released so far. Thanks Yoyo and Laxer. (and whoever else contributed) are you serious? Megaman X series runs awesome in TYL 0.3_me uh .. i would say megaman got like a 50 % performance boost, i can run it 0 frameskip most of the time with no slowdown. only time it is slow is in the water levels, which require an frameskip of 1, but other than that i can run it at 0 with no problem.

After a little time tweaking each rom i found that i like the 0.3 version for my 2.0 vers PSP and it is definetly an improvment over 0.2c. I will report any and all bugs i encounter thank you YOYO. you ROCK

really? i found 0.2c way faster than 0.3(standard) on the 2.0 verions, to be honest i think it would be awesome to downgrade your psp from 2.0--->1.5, i did just a few days ago now i have 100% homebrew and apps and im happy i did it, but if u like to play psp games alot than just keep 2.0, but if u have any questions, ask in the downgrading, snesTYL thread!
