I was playing Chrono Trigger when V0.3 came out. I copied the save state files to 0.3 but it seems so much slower. I made sure that all the setting were the same but the result is still the same. I tried Secret of Mana 0 Frame skip, 333mhz, speed limit off and it runs as faster than the original snes console but on the 0.3 its much slower Im only getting around 43fps. Anyone know why or got a fix? Thanks

I use this EMU on a version 2.00 PSP. I have that problem on a lot of games also. using v0.3 you should have the sound at 44khz not 22. I'm not sure if it is me or the EMU but the frameskipping on v.03 seems less fluid than on 0.2c. I run most games on 0.2c using frameskip 2 with relatively smooth gameplay but when using frameskip 2 on 0.3 it seems to play awkward.
With the new features said to be included in 0.4, I'll probably downgrade to 1.5 or buy a 2nd PSP.

Ive Also noticed a difference. the "autoframe skip" function doesnt seem to work as good as it did in 0.2 now i just set the frame skip to like 1 or 2 and it runs pretty smooth the only game to get too jump or to laggy is earthworm jim, i fixed the problem by turning the sound off.

Ok i was in the exact same boat as you. I have put about 30 hours into Chrono Trigger using 2c and, as you know, the speed is good but not great.
So I was really excited when I saw the v3 release, but I too saw slower speeds in v3 with chrono trigger.
But wait theres an awesome fix for this, downlaod the beta of the hardware audio version, the one called ME. Copy your saves over to that version and make sure you run at Framskip=3, Sound=44hz, and of course v-sync off. The game runs INCREDIBLY fast now, no more slow down in the battles, even in the scenes with complex layers going on.
Hope this works for you, let me know.

I currently use firmware 2.0 so I can't take advantage of the ME version.

Its been on my mind a lot lately. After seeing the new video, the next release (0.4) should be reason enough for anyone to want to stick with 1.5 - What I have decided upon was to have 2 PSP's. One dedicated to homebrew & emulation using 1.5 firmware. The other will be upgraded to 2.00 and maybe 2.50/2.60 if some good upcoming UMD games require it. I just need to decide if I want Ceramic White or another Black. Still undecided about the white.

yeah Im at 1.5, Ive had it for a year and have yet to buy a UMD for it so 1.5 has never been a problem, although I did just import "Tales of Eternia" so heres hoping it works on 1.5.
ME is alot faster, shockingly so for me, Id say its worth the downgrade.

I know Mega Man Maverick just released in the states requires 2.50 Firmware. Hopefully the version tricker will allow all these games to work on 1.5.

idk i've found that the speed issues are real but that may just be me beeing a moron but i've also found that 3 is more anal about the settings you need to perfect the settings for every game you run and man that took me like 2 days having over 800 roms all sorted into alphabetical and also having a year old son
i was using 3 to sort out witch roms worked and witch didn't but then i noticed that some games that worked in 2 just fine when i tried to load them up in 3 nothing showed up

Do any of you know about the UMD loader thats in the works right now? Anything that requires v2.6 firmware and under will be playable on 1.5 soon. Hombrew kicks ass.

well right now everything 2.5 and under works except for socom i think. so you cant really compain. cant wait for the 2.6 Umd loader. twill be nice so you dont have to hack the images. that is a lot of unneeded bs work let me tell you. The only problem will be getting a 2.6 firmware dump. right now it does not work with psar dumper or firmware launcher. we'll just have to wait and see.
BTW cant wait for .4
1.5 FOREVER!!!

I am playing several 2.6 required games on my 1.5 PSP. Games like Daxter, Mega Man Powered Up, Samurai Warriors, & Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai. Its just kinda tricky. I don't think the TYL team would want it discussed on their forum. But Sony is forcing people to alternative methods. I spent a lot of money on my PSP, Pro Duo, Extended Battery, & Games. The fact that they want to FORCE people to upgrade in order to play newer games is infuriating.
1.5 - Its Alive!

Hi, actually I think Sony is right.
If you were spending millions of $ on creating from scratch a new hardware + software platform. Would you like to loose control over it ? Nope. Neither loose trust from game makers investing millions $ on develloping games.
Anything else is basically egoist thinking from users and a "non-business-oriented" attitude.
Sony is not here to "please" user, their job is to make good hard and soft, so that game makers can make good contents on the platform and then have users be happy to buy and enjoy these games. Nothing else.
If not, they would make a "GP32" instead of "PSP"... And sell 100x less units. And have a tag prix twice the current price of the PSP for less hardware inside.
I am glad that homebrew could run on the PSP (I hoped for). But I can not blame Sony for protecting their business.
Anyway, anything that is not related to TYL should be avoided here. There is a lot of forum outthere to do that.

Good point! I love the PSP so if I put myself in Sony's shoes, I would want it protected. Anyway, its inevitable that there will be further versions of the PSP. All of which will likely be closed tight to homebrew this time around. The current PSP that we know and love will be strong even when the new PSP's come out because of the great homebrew capabilities and great dev teams like TYL.
So we can buy the new PSP's for newer UMD games and keep our current PSP for the great homebrew.

Yes, but keep in mind that if you buy 2 PSP, then it means that Sony lost the double of money on the hardware (most likely 100+ $ / unit). Which means that they have to sell twice the number of games to GET EVEN.
This is why actually this homebrew stuff is not really good for Sony. Personnally I would have prefered to see the homebrew limited to 1.0 only.
That would make the scene far smaller, but the image of the scene would be by far so much different. The current situation is worse than having only one security hole for only one version.
The brand image of Sony is getting bad like "they cant even secure their own platform". While I must agree that they do better each time...
Now look at the situation on the sales side : look at the top sales on mobile game console. Out of 10 games, 6 or 7 are nintendo DS games in Japan. Moreover, the PSP games arent really at the top of the chart. When I checked 6 month ago, The top 3 games were all nintendo, totalizing a number of games sold x10 more than the first PSP game in the ranking.
Basically not only nintendo did a good move by having a CHEAPER HARDWARE (they are probably making a small margin on it !), but their margin is 10x bigger on game too. (while cartridge must be a bit more expensive to do)
Now you can imagine the situation at Sony where they spend 10x the r&d cost of the DS at least, and have a per unit cost like 3x. And sell 10x less games !
I bet I dont need to explain the result of such situation... (Impact on PS3 r&d cost, schedule, budget restriction, etc...)
(I am really going OT but I think it is worth saying it...)

Oh, i'm quite sick of kids (yes, you know who u kids are!) getting angry that they can't play new games coming out (did I say play? i meant steal). I honestly dont think sony would care that much about homebrew if it weren't for these theives. GO OUT AND SPEND YOUR ALLOWANCE ON A GAME YOU THINK WILL BE GOOD! OR RENT IT! Dont tell me "Oh, i just download a game ti try it, then ill buy it if i like it....". BULLnuts! You have the game already, your not gonna go out and buy it! maybe one or two of your favorites, but not the huge amount your stealing! I learned my lesson with dreamcast. I had about 200 games, and dreamcast was on of the best gaming systems of all time. The autoloader made it so easy to steal games, everyone did and didnt buy them. Then my poor little dreamcast died, before its prime... no new generations of games on a system that blew the ps2 apart in processing power. After i finished crying, i told myself i would no longer steal games, because it is stealing. Quit telling yourself it isnt, just because it is impossible for most anyone to find out your doing it. If you cant afford a game, dont buy it. Play homebrew, it is what it is for. Or learn to code homebrew. Or go on some crazy half drunk rant on a forum. Dont steal. Not if you actually like it. And wear deodorant! d**n kids these days, not wearing deodorant...
