game: Contra III (SNES)
problem: VERY HARD MODE using 3 Lives only 2 players
About 10 years ago, my cousin and I moved to a new neighborhood and so we spent most of the summer playing Contra III. We progressed naturally from Very Easy to Easy to Normal to Hard to Very Hard. Again naturally with the number of lives. Finally, after about 2 months of everyday play, we got good enough to play with 3 lives. We got close many times to beating the final boss. But if you have played Contra III on Normal or above, you know that the final boss comes back alive and chases your helicopter... well.. that is when the game gets hard as hell. After failing about a week straight and already vowing to never play that game again, we finally got to the point where we had 3 lives each AFTER beating the final boss part 1. We were SO d**n happy and thought we would easily beat the helicopter part.
We had him blinking FOREVER.... I honestly believe that 10 more shots would've killed it. MY GOD. We threw our controllers, breaking one of them. I then pulled out Contra III from my SNES and threw it against the wall, which broke it enough that we decided to look in it. (I know all of you have tried opening up a NES or SNES game before just to be truly disappointed that it was just chips) Anyways, we vowed never ever to attempt that again and besides the fact that we couldn't, we also didn't...
Until the SNES on PSP... I tried it again solo... needless to say, I got owned on stage 4. If you want a challenge, play contra III on VERY HARD MODE. It should be renamed VERY STRESSFUL mode... anyways... if you have never played it, try it out -- just don't get addicted like me...
Man... writing that makes me want to play it again... Imma call my cousin and go for it again one day..... ONE DAY WE WILL SUCCEED... my vows are worthless. Don't marry me.
