Hey,
Using Zire 71 with 12,000,000 bytes free. UDMH 2.7.
I have been getting this error a LOT recently while playing NES. Nearly 3 times a day requiring a hard reset each time.
"MemoryMgr.c,Line3760,Invalid chunk ptr".
I find I receive this error often when performing the following sequence: -Tap centre screen for menu -Tap Sound -Tap Up or Down on the sound volume -Tap Back (after which, the right or left half of screen goes bananas) -Tap Graphics -Tap Sound again -*****CRASH***** After the crash, my palm keeps soft reseting continuously untilI hard reset the palm.
I have experienced this problem with both v0.9 and 0.8. I'm afraid to use older versions but might try 0.6. Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe I should just stay away from the ingame menu system.

I know version .9 of the game modules has a problem with the menus. If you use version .8 that should hopefully fix your problem.

is that 12,000,000 bytes or 12 megabytes just free or chunk memory? it needs to be chunk ( to be used for ram) and it can't be all you memory because then when you try to change your settings (uses memory not ram) you try to acess memory but if it is all used for ram then it is not allocatable or usuable and you have a problem. UDMH isn't perfect it is a HACK and has issues. err that is complicated and not all that clear but it does make sense (hopefully) ;D

I have roughly 12,100,000 bytes free. Don't want to bother looking it up again but that approx. Basically what you are saying is if I have that much free, I should leave some of it unallocated by UDMH to run the basic activities of the LPJ. Makes sense. Would setting UDMH for LJP to 10,000,000 bytes cover it you think? I think i might have tried that. Anyway I can't make any more room on my palm. 12,000,000 chunk is best I can do.

you need about 12 megs free (for snes) through udmh with a little more maybe a meg free (maybe a lot less)not used through udmh for general use while using ljp expirement around and post yuor results for future use (wish you as fewas possible hard resets)
edit: after reading your other post since you can use snes with about 11 megs free I would do it and maybe that would fix you problem more ram will not increase speed only increasing processor speed will do that. Use a clocker device to help out. there is Lightspeed ( don't recommend because it ismore expensive and has less support and timeout dates and has been in beta stage for a long time but it is safer for you palm since it has a max setting for you to go to) and warpspeed ( recommend because it is cheaper, Is an active site and is being updated does the same thing as lightspeed but you can set the speed higher than is safe for your palm so be careful)

There's a program that I used once that allow me to delete apps that's on internal ram. I deleted Real Player and some other apps that I forgot the name of. I forgot the name of the program though. By deleting apps that you don't want, it make your palm run faster and the extra ram can be use for something else.

I just thought I would comment that by setting UDMH to give LJP 12,500 kb of ram, it did seem to improve stability for me on my Tungsten|T5.
It isn't perfect yet, but it does seem better.

I've tried setting LJP in UDMH to 9000k, 10000k, 12000k, 12500k and all yielded the same results (CRASH). I am going to try to remove all traces of LJP and install 0.8 again. I never really cleared out the old versions after installing 0.9 so maybe that will help. I am trying lightspeed but the only noticeable difference I had was when playing Aeroplayer in the background, if I set my texttwist to 180 it doesn't run as slow. However the LJP did not seem to be effected in any way.
Set 180MHZ for all running apps.

do you have any other programs running in the background? setting thier speeds higher will only make a greater demand on your palm and DRAIN your battery life. only increase the speed on programs you want faster and better yet, only one at a time. You probably won't notice that much of a speed increase especially if you set the frame skip to auto. but you should notice that snes is a little better and possibly sega too. gb and nes don't really need the speed increase
