Apparently the issue is only with eloader .97 and NOT .96 and below! So downgrade to .96 and voila! fps boost -edit- i have personally tested it and it works!! yay fullspeed snes (only disadvantage: you don't get wifi..)

I also Tested this and can confirm it does the trick.
0.9.6 is more stable anyways. But like manias mentioned. no wifi.
Keep backups of your 0.9.6 AND 0.9.7 eloader folder, and switch between them as you need them. This will help get you those 333mhz which can increase playability dramaticly on 2.01+ firmwares.
This is only a quick fix until a fix for 0.9.7 is actually made.

Also still on .96 is the freeze-on-exit bug etc. only 333mhz is fixed using this afaik

The speed limiter in 0.9.7 is deliberate for wifi-capable applications. On v2.5 and above, wifi will not activate if the speed is set too high.
So eLoader restricts the maximum speed to 300 MHz, which should also allow wifi to be activated, for any apps that import the wifi libraries. That 33 MHz difference shouldn't be very noticeable.
We hope to improve the way this is done in a future version of eLoader.
The freeze-on-exit is something to do with how the wifi libraries are unloaded - we haven't currently worked out exactly why it happens, though.

so i guess the user version needs a 300mhz option or an option to not load wifi so 333mhz is possible? thanks fanjita!

I think a simple fix on TYL should do it. As Fanjita mentioned, the 33mhz difference shouldnt be a big difference in performance. So I guess, we have to wait and see if Yoyo or Laxera would implement 300mhz for us 2.5 and up users for now.

Or perhaps release snes9x tyl in three different versions.
ME USER Without WIFI.
But that sounds difficult to maintain, so perhaps a way to load the wifi libraries on the fly would be better. But then again, i haven't ever used wifi on the PSP, so i do not know if that would be possible.
EDIT: wouldn't 33mhz actually make a difference with this app though? There is a very noticeable difference between 222 and 266, and also a VERY large difference between 266 and 333. Hopefully you figure out some way to load wifi libraries without clocking the speed at 333mhz.
Also, wouldn't it be possible to make it so that wifi libraries will only load in an app if you press a button(such as square) BEFORE loading up an app?

This should be stickied for all the people asking about the speed problem.

ok, thx fanjita I've added a 300Mhz setting. the exit issue is fixed, I've reworked the way application exit and now everything is shup down/deallocated. the issue seemed to be caused by the wifi and the 6 allocated sound channels for the beep on button press in GUI.

Is the L+R bug fixed too? The way it is now, pressing L+R takes you to the menu. However, when i changed the menu back to analog nub, L+R still does not work(meaning i can't get past a certain part in Chrono Trigger, and that i cannot run from battles). But L and R work individually, just not when pressed together.
However besides that, using eloader 0.9.6, this release is fantastic, but i get a few freezes here and there.(In chrono trigger, during the intro after you pick your name the game freezes for about 4 seconds, but then comes back) The frameskip is certainly better, and SRAM works, and overall everything feels a little bit smoother.

(some 1.5 people DO use standard so i've heard.) I will also be keeping 0.9.6 for the extra 33mhz.. at least until fanjita finds another way to have it at 333mhz and have wifi, on eloader 0.9.8 or what ever he has planned.
