It seems that not too many people look at the "bugs" section since this has not been fixed since the newest release. For at least 50% of the games out there, after saving a state then loading, sound will not return. I have had this problem playing ken griffey baseball and super mario world. Has anyone found a workaround into getting this to work? THanks, Cobra2168 EDIT: noticed this in the changes for 0.4.2: * Sound issues after loading a savestate should be gone Nope, not fixed

Of course, if you save a state with sound OFF, then load it and turn sound ON it won't work. To be exact, any oocasion where you turn the sound OFF then ON again, it will not work most of the time.
The reason for that is that the sound chip and the CPU need to be in sync... and you break that sync when you turn sound OFF because the sound chip stops executing. Some games can resume (part or all of) the sound when you do that, although it's not advisable.
Dunno if that's your case, but useful info nonetheless.

when i save state, then load state, both with sound on i get no sound after the load.
This works in 0.3 and 0.2, but not in 0.4
Its a bug.

Yeah I have/had the same problem with every variation of 0.4me There was a difference, however. 0.4me I was able to restore the sound simply by going to the menu (of the emulator) and coming back out again 0.4.2me doesn't work this way at all, once you load the sound's gone for good. And yeah, as was said, this problem was not present at all in 0.3me EDIT: Changed 0.4.1me to 0.4me, had forgotten which versions were which seems so long ago O.o

0.4.1 was usermode only.. i think the problem is with syncing the ME? something like that?

will the user version work on 1.50? Cause i really dont mind using user version if it fixes the sound problem ....

Yes it will. Both versions work on 1.5, the difference is that one uses the media engine to process sound, taking a load off the main CPU (me)
and the other doesn't (user)
So you can switch to usermode if it fixes the problem if you want (I haven't checked it to see if the sound problem is gone, but it might be since sound is implemented in a completely different way)
But you risk losing speed in some games

I was able to fix the bug. I'm currently using 0.4.2me and the no sound bug started to effect some of my roms. This is how I fixed it on my PSP:
I loaded a rom the wasn't effected by the bug. I went to the menu and enabled USB. From the memory stick I went to the profile folder and deleted all of the config files. I then created a new default config with the working rom and the bug stopped.
I'm not too sure why it worked or if it will work for you guys. The save states that were made with the bug still won't have sound and just to be safe, I'd delete them.
I hope this helps. The bug just started randomly for me, so I'm not sure if this will work for everyone.

It's simple to solve this bug if you use search you would find it. yoyofr.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=snes9xtyl&action=display&thread=1147652271It works every single time for me. Hope it does for all of you to. Do this and the sound bug will be gone (Don't know for sure if you can have Menu music on, menu fx on and pad beep on): 1 - Load Super Pang (problably there are other games that work to). 2 - Confirm you have sound in the game and go to menu and "Make Settings DEFAULT) 3 - Load the rom you want to play without exiting snesTYL. Now the game you want to play will always have sound after loading the savestate. You only have to do this to make the first savestate, after making the first savestate you don't need to load super pang. Only load the game you want to play and enjoy. IMPORTANT NOTE: The first savestate must be saved on an empty slot, and never over a savestate with no sound. (Erase all the no sound savastate you have). Can someone please put this tutorial sticky to avoid more of this questions about the sound bug??
