I just downgraded my PSP from 2.0 to 1.5 and installed the new snes9xTYL. Whenever it opens up a ROM it just goes to a blank screen. I can still access the menu but it doesnt seem like the ROM activates at all. Any suggestions?

I've tried a couple. Super Mario World (U).smc, Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island (U) (v1.1).sfc, Kirby Superstar.smc, and Star Fox.smc. All with the same results.

i was just wondering, would different emulators consume more power then other? like GBA or snes? would the gba emultor consume more?

well i guess the more the cpu has to work the more energy it consumes..

It depends more on the rest of the PSP than the CPU usage. First thing is CPU frequency. Of course 333 drains the battery a LOT faster than 222. Second comes the screen backlight. Then there's the emulator specific stuff like does it use the ME, how much does it use the GFX chip, etc. But that's the least important. Note that apart from the frequency stuff, all software uses the CPU to the same extent as it keeps executing code all the time (in normal conditions) Ah, and sound. Needless to say that sound, especially in the PSP speakers, costs energy too

tinnus so in theory it doesn't matter if u run a heavy app like a gba emulator or a gameboy color emulator? surely that would make a difference as playing psp games versus playing mp3's changes battery use a lot

Yes it doesn't matter.
Playing games uses the UMD drive, which uses a LOT of battery due to having to spin the disc. Also, mp3 playing reduces the screen brightness by a good deal when you don't press a button for some time. Moreover, you usually listen to music using your phones and sometimes you play games using the speaker, which uses more battery than phones.

That is very annoying. it seems to me that Sony's future ventures need to heavily investigate battery consumption issues.

And storage media for games. One of the reasons I like playing homebrew over UMD games is the loading times (and weird sounds ;D )

prettzv they have investigated it and hence it doesn't run @ 333 with normal games

This needs to be a heavily driven direction. DS rocks cause of battery time. (And first party software) Sony sucks cause of battery time and first party software. But PSP homebrew kills DS.
