you either need 1.5 or a custom (OE/SE) firmware
e.g. 3.1 OE-A' is newest

i got the latest official update for my psp (im a total noob when messing around with me psp)
but what do i need to get it work? do i need to downgrade ?
and wich version of snes9xtyl do i need?

if you got the latest normal update from sony ur screwed. you need CUSTOM firmware if ur on the latest.. anything over 3.02 doesn't work at this moment

So, in short - Yes. You do need to downgrade.
Can you? No. You upgraded too far, you are, as Manias said, utterly screwed, sorry
