this will probably make me seem stupid but I didn't see issues quite like this on the board and I'm somewhat new to the whole emulation thing. From what I've read of other peoples results, it seems my emulator is slower. I'm using 3.30OE-A and Snes9x.4.2me but yet alot of games run slow. Tetris attack is a good example as it is night unplayable, and alot of other games seem slow. I didn't see tetris attack listed as having any of the special chips, And i've tried numerous frame skips and sound quality reductions but to no avail. Right now i have it set like this:
Engine: PSP accel + approx. soft Video mode: zoom 4/3 Smoothing: yes Speed limit switch: yes Speed limit fps: Auto Frameskip: 4 Vsync: no render PAL as NTSC: yes Gamma correction
Show FPS: yes
Sound Mode: emulated, output Output frequency: 22050Hz APU cycle ratio: 100%
and it still runs slow. Is there something weird about tetris attack?

From what I've heard there's certain compatibility problems between the emulator and 3.30OE-A... I could be wrong though
frameskip 4 is a bit high, you'll see the effects plain as day with it like.. very choppy missing or corrupt graphics might result from using approx. soft instead of accur. soft.

it was already at 333mhz, i got it smoother using accurate software. Still seems fairly slow, though frameskip two seems to give acceptable speeds now. Is that more normal? Still feels off

Do it like this
Engine: PSP accel + accurate soft Video mode: fullscreen Smoothing: yes Speed limit switch: yes Speed limit fps: 60 Frameskip: 0 Vsync: no render PAL as NTSC: yes Gamma correction
Show FPS: no
I get fullspeed on almost every game like this...
You can also turn the speedhacks on, and get an updated version of the speedhack dat thingie.
if its still slow, turn the frameskip to 1

also i think tetris attack is just a game that snes9xtyl has problems with.. heard about some tetris game before. test using mario

hm... there's 2 different breeds of graphical "lag" one might notice.. there is outright speed, this is how fast the rom is actually running compared to what it should be running. i.e. if on a normal snes an action takes 3 seconds to complete and on snes9xtyl it takes 4 seconds to complete, this is what I consider "slow"
high frameskip is a whole other problem.. you can ahve the action taking the same amount of time but in a very lag-ish way... hard to describe.. but the problem stems from not enough pictures being displayed in the given time, resulting in characters bouncing around (missing frames) - this problem is fixed by lowering frameskip, but often at the cost of speed (dependingon the game)

I am having speed issues as well.
Super Mario Kart runs at 15-20 fps even at frameskip 2
Donkey Kong Country 3 won't go past 20 fps, period.
I use the exact config as prometheus says.
3.40 OE-A firmware, and I'm running it at 333 mhz.

For the DKC games, go into Hack/Debug menu and turn on Ignore Pallette Writes. This should make them run at full speed.
