I was wondering if anyone knows why these two games keep freezing on me. FF2 will freeze during battles and only battles...its a little frustrating and FF3 will just freeze randomly. I have no other problems with any other games i play other than the norm (i.e. glitches, slowdown, etc) I have tried different versions of the games but I still have the same problems. FF5 works just fine, no problems there.
My settings are: PSP Accel + Accur Soft Video - Fullscreen Smoothing - Yes Speed limit switch - Yes Speed limit FPS - 60fps Frameskip - Auto VSync - No Render PAL as NTSC - Yes Audio - emulated, 441000 Clock Speed - 333
PSP Firmware - 3.40 OE-A SNES9XTYL 0.4.2 ME
I have tried multiple variations but this one seems to work best for both.

ME is better, use it. it makes overall emulation faster by using a seperate CPU to process sound
it's sure to speed things up other causes of slow speeds could be auto frameskip (might jack the frameskip up too high) - if this is the problem, you can lower the frameskip to 1 or 2, but note that global emulation will slow down (it won't seem choppy, it'll just be running the game slower then it should)

yeah I found that to, it's not that it freezes but FF2 hangs when kain does his jump command, rom work alright on PC side, perhaps a memory or access problem? I can pause the game but it's like it's waiting for something, music and other animation progresses as normal but without an interupting action the game comes to a halt. An after thought is that it could be related to the speedhack...

Try disabling speedhacks to see?

I believe it's under "MISC" for the option, under "Hack/debug menu" the option is there, Speed Hacks - just set it to off

alternatively you could play them on the gba emulator (gpsp).. the gba versions are the latest and most up to date (extra dungeon-wise etc) i think (apart from the DS remake of ff3 anyway, which is US 3 I think? I always get confused)

well turning off the speedhack for FF2 (4) works, perhaps it will work for FF3 (6) aswell
