I just did a fresh install of the newest version 0.4.2me and when I try to remap the controls, specifically the cross, circle, etc., every key I press is logged as "up (analog)".
I searched the threads for similar problems but found nothing.
Firmware is 3.10 oe a 2

Have you tested with any other games or homebrew, to make sure that your analog stick isn't stuck in a very slightly "up" position?

it's not a hardware problem, everything works fine. besides, even if i move the stick sideways or down, instead of pressing a button, it registers as analog up...

ok now i'm grumpy. i just read the above post and thought i'd go see if there is an option to disable the analog pad. i had not run the program since i installed 3.61 M33-2 with 1.50 kernel V2 patch. now the emulator runs slow and choppy, i can't even play a game, whereas before it was perfect. no issues with other homebrew. hmm...
